A healer living in the town of Thalinde, "an elf who follows the path of the sun." The Vigilant Guardians have a letter that Cal'tel has asked them to deliver to Arivan Marathal, and to tell him that the letter is for Pellan'zyne. He has an adopted daughter, Sornala Marathal, who appears to be a half-(drow)elf. Marathal is the primary healer of the Thalinde town, and well-respected by the majority of its inhabitants, but some townspeople (most notably a 'rival' healer, Old Maggie), have much distrust for the Pelorite cleric who think he is inviting disaster by sheltering the half-drow. The Vigilant Guardians met with him in Thalinde and delivered the letter, at which time many secrets, such as the identity of the aforementioned Pellan'Zyne, were revealed.
