Chickens

Team Stormblade has a very interesting relationship with chickens. What Salvador is to dungeons, chickens seem to be to towns. (Chickens have appeared in dungeons before, though…)

Therassa:

  • During their first visit to the catfolk village, Team Stormblade wandered for a time, taking in the sights. They came across a young catfolk woman who was herding a group of wild-looking chickens, and Dan Highland promptly asked if they were food. When told "no," he wondered aloud whether they would act like Cuccos in The Legend of Zelda series and chase him if he attacked them.
  • Later, when they returned to the guest hut, they found a chicken had taken up temporary residence in their lodgings. After a short sequence of events, they managed to herd the chicken out the door.
  • During the feast at Therassa, Matumaru and Dan Highland decided to try their hands at performing. Dan's comedy act ended, somehow, with a chicken on his head. He threw the chicken off. The chicken, ruffling its feathers, gathered its friends… Dan proceeded to run through the camp, being chased by a mob of fowl! (The woman who had been chasing the chickens before joined in, trying to corral the birds.)

Tarnade Hold:

  • Not to be confused with Tarnade Keep. The hold had been abandoned so long that the chickens which were normally taken care of by stockkeepers became feral. When Team Stormblade came by to cleanse the summoning ring deep in the fortress, they encountered the flock, including the fat, angry matriarch. They proceeded to be chased across the field and into an oak tree by the feathered beasties. (These were fierce chickens — they even managed to stare down Siros' wolf companion!) Eventually, pleased that they had treed their quarry, the chickens dispersed. *Later, they were heard engaging in battle with a dire bear. Team Stormblade quickly decided that "they deserved it" and beat a hasty retreat back into the keep.

And let's not forget Farin's Harebrained Chicken Scheme.
