A guest lecturer in Greyspire, Dan teaches swordsmanship and strategy for the most part, and occasionally substitutes for weaponsmithing on the topic of swords. He is a harsh, stern teacher, who accepts no excuses and drives his students to do their absolute best. Those that make it past their first few classes generally admit to having a (grudging) respect for the way he handles things.
When not teaching or attending to other daily matters, he can frequently be seen walking around Greyspire.
Known Facts:
- Dan forged his bastard sword himself, and is a capable weaponsmith. The blade itself is an elegantly simple design, a gently-tapering steel blade, crossguards slightly angled forward, and black leather grip. It shows no signs of battle damage or general wear and tear.
- There is no set path to his daily walks, although you could set a clock by them; he leaves and returns exactly on the hour.
- Dan dislikes unnecessary bloodshed, and will avoid drawing his sword unless he absolutely has no other choice. Should that happen, however, expect no quarter and no mercy. Especially if you are threatening civilians.
- He keeps a flask about him at all times. If questioned, he'll explain it once slowed a stray arrow enough to save his life. He then had it magically repaired, and keeps it full of something, but rarely drinks from it. According to rumours spread by one daring student, it's full of dragon broth.
- Dan has five distinct outfits, but is never seen changing. He wears mithral chain underneath them; to the casual observer, he appears to be unarmoured.
- Given his title and general behaviour, it is clear that he is a military officer of some description, but he refuses to reveal who he's working for.
- He much prefers colder weather, dressing lightly when others would wrap up warm. Also, he takes much longer walks when winter sets about the city.
