Deepfoot Swamp

It is dark and muddy. Go in without a lantern, and you are likely to get stuck in the mire and be eaten by a grue.

This area is home mainly to eccentric wizards, lizardfolk, will-o'-the-wisps, shambling mounds, black dragons, otyughs, and a variety of other nasty creatures. There are rumors of illithids lurking here, as well. There are also many crumbling buildings, left behind by amateur builders and those who thought they could master the swamp.

The swamps have many black dragons and lizardfolk slithering through the undergrowth; thus, characters whose homelands are in the swamps may choose Draconic as a bonus language. Those who learn Draconic in the swamps often have something of a sibilant accent.
