The Drow were a race of people who lived primarily in the Girn Mountain range. They were closely related to the Elves, so close to be considered Dark Elves; but had many socio-phyical differences. Most noticeably, they were dark-skinned and white-haired regardless of age, and universally had green eyes with red eye-shine. Their culture was always violent, or to use the vernacular, 'stabbity'. There was only one unifying force that kept the Drow from killing each other for kicks, the church of Lolth. The spider-goddess, and by extension her clergy, molded the Drow into a matriarchal society viewing males as little more than indentured servants. They occupied the most verdant and hospitable parts of the Girn mountains, and so rose to dominate all races that inhabited the mountains. This inevitably resulted in the Underdark war where the Drow and Duergar launched an expansionist campaign to overtake their lighter skinned cousins, the Elves and Dwarves. This resulted in the clergy's eventual overthrow when the campaign failed.
