Edaric served as the face of the small adventuring group made up of himself and Aelian Cyadarith, and the urban side of the pair. He is not much of a fighter, to his chagrin, but he's brave, and often took the role of front-line fighter when he and Aelian were adventuring together, distracting the enemy and pricking at them with his rapier while Aelian turned them into pincushions from afar. In the Guardians, though, he tends to fall more into a support role, both in battle and outside of it.
Aelian and Edaric both grew up in the small village of Oakridge before taking to Castleton and the surrounding areas as adventurers; they were captured by the Redmaw goblins while investigating the raids and kidnappings the tribe had been going on. Edaric managed to convince the goblins to let him have his lute, which he would play in the darkness both to pass the time and lift spirits… until Granch Redmaw had enough of the constant music and smashed the instrument against the bard's cage. He still mourns the loss of "Lucille," even after getting a new lute (which has now been christened "Cecilia").
Edaric and Aelian were bought together by the false sculptor Jonah Restren, and turned into statues while fighting him and his cockatrice pet. Edaric was freed by the Vigilant Guardians in Restren's basement, and helped to release Aelian from a similar stony fate once they helped him to the surface. Afterward, the adventuring pair accompanied the Guardians, Kethanis Whitebranch, Jalzar, and Luethil Aellonor on their quest to rout Freida Briarclaw and her coven. Afterward, he and Aelian were adopted as honorary Guardians, and have since lived at Guardian HQ and accompanied them on their adventures.
After the breakup of the Vigilant Guardians as an adventuring company, Edaric has retired to Eytherinu, the elven town which Aelian helped found. He tends to be stricken with wanderlust frequently, however, and can be found roaming all over Central Akellon, helping out however and whoever he can.
Trivia
- Edaric is known to start singing after drinking a few pints of ale. If his vocal skill was as advanced as his lute skill, there would be little trouble; however, the dice seem to have cursed Edaric to never roll higher than a 10 on Perform (sing) checks. This has led to a running joke that Edaric cannot carry a tune in a bucket with his voice, despite his growing instrumental mastery.
- When Edaric rolls a natural 1 on his Perform checks, he tends to snap at least one lute string.
- Edaric spent his 24th birthday as a statue. His petrification experience has left him with a touch of claustrophobia brought on by stone spaces, which is exacerbated if he's isolated in them (particularly if he can't hear anyone else).
- Ed is the second oldest sibling among five, and all four of his other siblings are female; Tiana Tonmor, Rachel Tonmor, and the twins Kathy Tonmor and Kirstie Tonmor. His mother's name is Shannen, and his father's name is Glynn. They own a farm in the town of Oakridge, raising sheep predominantly.
- Ed is not allowed to play "I Spy." Ever. Period.
