Ah, I knew it was written down somewhere, just couldn't remember where. Or find it, for that matter.

Re: Wizard Spellbooks by GantiGanti, 05 Dec 2013 01:09

For the sake of the wizardly and curious;

Scribing a spell into a spellbook takes 1 hour per level, and gold cost of 10*(spell level squared). 0 level spells cost half of what a 1st level spell costs, but still take full hour to scribe.

I was looking to add a spell to Darach's spellbook again, and remembered that there was some sort of house ruling on the scribing of spells to a spellbook. I just can't remember what it was. Anyone remember the details, or should we hash this out again?

As if you're surprised by this… Negative energy and undead. I believe it's been mentioned a few times that they're not inherently evil in Akellon. Now, I could be the one saying this, so if I was, ignore. Unless it's accurate.

Heyo, folks!

So, I notice that the Random Facts Page has been a little neglected as of late. Are there any little Akellon trivia tidbits you can recall that you think should go on there? If so, post them, or post here and someone else will post them!

Anything you'd like to see discussed on that page? Post here! Someone will no doubt expand on the thoughts within.

Have fun!

As I learned yesterday Ryško/Ryšovít/Ryšislav (and as host of other nicknames) , the purrcat that was in much part the inspiration behind Candlestand's character was run over by a car somewhen between Monday and Tuesday (14-15.10.2013 ie).

Why is Mablung not in Scarlet's likes?

Maybe she doesn't just like Mablung.

Oh my.

Is it platonic or not? Snrk.

Cue a cute scene where Scarlet brings Mablung a violet iris that bloomed from the snow, making this the second time one of my characters gave RAM's character a snow flower. There's actually quite a few winter-blooming flowers, and I've figured this out for myself over the several times my characters have all started in or stayed in a snowy region or in winter.

Scarlet is the first one to actually like it, and even embrace it. She's also the first to have cold resist amongst my favoured souls. Usually fire/lightning/acid is more common, but it does depend on my whims (sonic, couple times, to throw the GM for a loop). Never cold though, none of them have that. Not even Maximilian who had to fight ice creatures pouring out of the woodwork during Risia's coterminus period.

Maybe I just find the idea of an angel in the snow aesthetically pleasing, but it's more to it than that. I've only ever seen winter and snow once in my life. It was beautiful, and serene, and I could lose myself forever had it not given me a reminder that it is cold. That was years and years ago, and the memory is fading. There is no snow where I live, and while rain is beautiful and welcome because it brings me relief from the sun, it isn't quite the same.

Scarlet has some of my selfish desire to see and experience snow and ice again tied to her creation.

Anyway, cue Scarlet glomping Mablung. "Hi, big brother!" 83

And she gives him a snow-crusted iris flower, pure violet in color besides the white. Croci (plural, crocus), can actually bloom in the dead of winter in alpine tundra, at high elevation. Amongst the cold, desolate landscape of just ice and rock during winter, it's a beacon of life.

However it's a flower that actually needs the cold desolate landscape. The bulbs need six weeks of temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit to form flowers. It thrives in the lack or slumber of life.

Note how significant the parallel is for Scarlet's character.

Maybe I should add 'iris flowers' to Scarlet's likes.

"It was a dark apparition from that hidden life which lies, like a hidden by-street, behind the well ornamented facade that meets the sunlight and the gaze of respectable admirers." Joseph remarks, while leaning on the edge of the bridge.

Joseph Hieronymus-Reshal; One of my most brooding, sorrowful and vice-ridden characters. All of my characters are facets of my sum personality, and Joseph is entrenched in my super-ego. The super-ego aims for perfection. A lofty but ultimately impossible goal, and both his shortcomings and his pride are a reminder that he is only human, where the world pressures him to live up to Reshal's name, trying to forcefeed him destiny. His destiny simply imposes upon him as a sword of Damocles.

Sneaking up on him for a pounce and a glomp is Scarlet Winslow, with her tongue sticking out.

Scarlet Winslow is one of my simplest and most cathartic characters. She is also a facet of my sum personality, and she comes from the id and ego. While you could argue that her avoidance of inherently evil pursuits is part of a superego response, she is mediated by her simple outlook. This is to solidify the idea that she is not just a favoured soul of a dark, evil god. She is a human girl, as much as anyone is, her destiny is coincidental.

Both are different and similar at the same time, and Joseph realizes that his similarity with his Akellon and Dwarf Fortress counterpart isn't just a coincidence. It brings to light a common theme in my writing: the challenge to make a path, instead of following one. The challenge of freedom from inevitability.

Of course, he hasn't much time for higher, existential thought when a young girl empowered with the divine might of Nerull tackles his back and showers him with greetings and yayifications.

"Can you not do that?" He tries to dust himself off.

"Aww, but it's so much fun suprising you! Come on, have a little fun. You're young too, aren't you?" 8D

"No thanks. I had—"

"Silly Joseph, don't use that 'I had fun once' quote. That's a little too much of a meme for your seriousface." XP

"..well. Seriously though, Reshal is so stressful for me. I mean look: I'm barely an adult and I'm already jaded, cynical and trying to drink my problems away. It's a miracle I haven't taken snuff, or smoking. I'm a wreck, just trying to hide myself as being fine and peachy."

The favoured soul pokes Joseph's chest, "You need to lighten up. Why not ask Akeboshi out to do fun things?" ;)

The bard looks off to the side, "..I, I can't."

"Why not?" :.

"In an ideal world, I would. But there's too much at stake right now to be bothered by silly things like entertaining myself, and indulging in my feelings and heaven forbid, love."

"Well, do you love her?" :o

"I can't answer that." He quickly responds.

"Aw."

The fun thing about mysteries is that they're mysteries. I'm not going to say one way or another, now am I?

—-

"So what about you?"

Scarlet looks around, "Me?" :o

"You're a dark messiah. A harbinger of apocalyptic nightmares. How in the world do you cope with it?"

The favored soul giggles, "I just do!" XD

"That's not an answer!"

"Yes it is!" 8P

"Our creator is just being a tease until he can vent it all in Akellon 2 and doesn't want to give a straight answer on that, isn't he?"

"Yup!" XD

Setz Imir pops in, holding a mug with a symbol of Khorne on it filled with coffee flavoured blood. "Shh. Play nice."

"…"

"…"

"Arcalane is going to bop our creator, now, isn't he?"

END (for now)

I said as much, Scarlet would probably be looking for work to pay for her tuition if we're starting off in the academy city. If this offer was posted in something like a notice board or something like that, she'll probably be interested since it's on campus and it's convenient.

Or we can go with Scarlet meeting Kirstie, then her bringing Scarlet in to this.

Options.

Darach would be. Tombs tend to equal undead, and he's not exactly happy with his current assignment.

Re: Group organization by GantiGanti, 09 Aug 2013 00:44

So, just asking. Going to try to be setting my character up as looking for a team to do an archeological expedition. aka…tomb raiding or something similar activity designed to find antiquities and…sell them to museums/collectors for cold hard coinage. While normally seeking students interested in history that would pay to join as an intern or for credit in school, definitely would need some others for protection, and skilled delvers are always useful. What characters would be interested in being part of such an expedition?

Likes:
-Philosophy. Aegis is extremely prone to waxing philosophical, musing over deeper meanings, or just plain contemplating unusual questions.
-Creativity. Art and music, tales and puzzles. They're very alien notions in the world of Mechanus, but Aegis has rather warmed up to the experience.
-Violence. More due to nature than persona, Aegis has an incredible propensity towards force, destruction, and warfare. Almost every Inevitable is built for an assassination, and subsequently lives to brutally police the world it ended up in. One cannot "spar" with an Inevitable; they have virtually no middle-ground between placid and full-tilt charge. Threaten at your own risk.

Dislikes:
-The anathema forces of chaos. Demons, slaadi, pandemic undead, and quite a sizable pie slice of witless mortals, too. But especially demons. They caused the third, and exacerbate the fourth.
-Biology. Compared to his original surroundings, Akellon is a mucous-slicked Zerg hive seething with larvae. He generally tries to take it on the chin.
-Irrationality. It is very difficult for Aegis to abide someone doing something he perceives as short-sighted, self-destructive, or otherwise foolish. Unfortunately, his perception of short-sighted and irrational behavior may be ridiculously alien and stringent compared to any mortal outlook. Inevitables are not well known for seeing things your way.

None of the above.

'Desmond' has bobbled along on the fringes of Mablung and Scarlet's travels, as is his wont, taking in the world around him. Observing a city and culture of this scale is always interesting, but his interest in classes and businesses is cursory. At most, he may be inclined to listen for interesting news; political happenings, disturbances, adventure. It wouldn't be the first time he had found some colorful errand or another to send his companions clambering off towards, and it is not rare for worldbound Inevitables to lend service to legitimate authorities in need. At least, he'll play the custodian while they muck about in city life.

Built 51 years ago on the 13th of Cuthon. In another plane, granted, but Mechanus shares a timeframe with the Prime Material.

Aegis - "It might be nice to be a bard. To walk this world and see its wonders, unfettered by duties and beholden only to wanderlust and chasing legends. To master expression, harness stimulation, and embrace adulation. To wallow in the very essence of what it means to be a mortal, living wantonly and selfishly and carelessly, basking in the axis around which the rest of the multiverse revolves.

… Alas. Someone has to clean up after them."
