Gamal always wears clothing that completely conceals his body. He is never seen without a pair of scimitars at his side, and often carries a longbow with him as well.

History

Born to Houssam-Junayd of the Vorel-Svent and Yanaba-Junayd adopted of the Vorel-Svent, his early childhood was uneventful, he was good friends with Isam-Nasir, and got into some childhood mischief, such as pranking the camels and getting kicked badly for it (which he barely survived) and when older, trying to out-ride a sandstorm (again, barely survived). When he was 16, he was sent to his uncle Heammawihio to learn air style as well as fire, and some discipline. He returned when he was 20, and soon after fell in love with his best friends sister, Tijah. They were engaged, but before the marriage could happen, the tribe was sent to war against a neighboring tribe, the Sthyr-Rhyaex over their encroachment on the tribe's watering holes. The war went poorly, and first his Fiance, and then the tribe's chief were counted amoung the casualties. The new chief surrendered, and the tribe's territory was cut almost in half, a sever blow to morale.

Soon after, after returning from a long patrol with his best friend, he found that his parents had been burned alive for 'tainting' the tribe with air teachings. The fire still going, though much weaker, he plunged into the flames hoping they were still alive and could be saved, extracting the dead bodies, but being horribly burned in the process. His friend stopped his father who had commanded the burning from including Gamal, instead Gamal was exiled or to be retrained as a pure fire style warrior. He also stopped Gamal from a suicide charge in defense of his parents, saying the best way was to do it as tribal law dictated, and to challenge Kaffir for command of the tribe, which he wasn't strong enough to do so, as that would prove the teachings hadn't been corrupting, but strengthening instead. Gamal chose exile, refusing to abandon his mothers style, and not wishing to hurt his friend with his or Kaffir's death, but he vowed revenge against Kaffir, that he would show him that fire combined with wind was a stronger path than just fire.

Since then, he has made his way across Akellon, selling his services as a mercenary, though he tends to favor good causes that are often seen as the weaker of the two, giving him a reputation for helping underdogs. Severely burnt, he wears the burns as badges to honor his parents, though due to the disquieting effect they have on people, he keeps himself well wrapped up, only showing his eyes. When mercenary work is rare, he sometimes takes up work as a cook to make ends meet, or teaches dance or trains warriors in combat, odd jobs just to survive, as he practices daily in an effort to surpass the clan's chief.
