Pellan'zyne is the true identify of the Thalinde Pelorite healer, Arivan Marathal. He was originally a scout serving House Helvirahel in Lolth's army during the Underdark War, but was captured in Ehlon, 1095 CA and held at Fort Winterhold. Even while imprisoned, he was treated far better than he ever had been under the brutal, sadistic, and matriarchal rule of the Lolthian drow, and he learned about Pelor during this time. After he was paroled, he converted and became a vessel for Pelor's power himself.
With Rhylinar, Quilarak, and Altonor, he helped to found the Sun Raiders; a group dedicated to liberating drow from the oppressive atmospheres of both Lolthian and Orgolloyss society, and showing them a less violent and self-destructive path in life. Shortly after the war's end, he cast aside his house name and became a fugitive.
Pellan'zyne is the only member of the founding four Raiders to have been married; his wife, a human Pelorite missionary named Jane Marathal, stumbled across the Raiders in hiding shortly after an avalanche in Lissan Rook in 1158 CA. Pellan'zyne, being on the mountain and not being one to let innocent people suffer when he could do something about it, skirted the avalanche zone and healed whoever he could reach while remaining out of reach of possibly zealous humans and elf-kind who would shoot a drow first and ask questions later.
Unfortunately, he was spotted by several groups of townspeople, and rumors started to fly about drow in the hills. Jane managed to track them down by following the trail of the not-so-stealthy plate-armored Altonor, and vowed to keep the Raiders' secret. Over time, the two Pelorites hit it off, and were married in 1161 CA.
Pellan'zyne crafted the identity of the elven healer Arivan Marathal to mesh more easily with human society, and the two lived happily in Lissan Rook for many years with their half-drow daughter, Sornala Marathal. In 1197, the family moved from Lissan Rook to Thalinde, due to drow politics beginning to catch up with Pellan'zyne and age beginning to creep up on Jane. He has been living in Thalinde ever since with Sornala, even after Jane's death in 1218 CA, helping people and in general trying to be a good person.
The Vigilant Guardians met with him initially under his disguise, which he lifted when he was delivered the letter from the Mysterious Messenger, and told the Guardians a great many things concerning the Raiders, himself, and Altonor.
Gnogglebolt, recognizing Pellan'zyne's good nature, crafted a plan to set him up with a meeting with a member of the Aureate Palm to give Pellan'zyne the help and alliance he needed to further his cause of drow liberation. However, due to ill timing and poor communication on all sides, it seems to have caused more harm than good.
Coupled with Miron's attempt at sneaking up on Altonor in the middle of the night, Pellan'zyne's relationship with the Guardians has been left somewhat frosty. Perhaps in the future, that will change, but it will take time and work to thaw things between the nervous healer and the eager adventurers.
