Random Facts Page
This page contains random tidbits about Akellon that either don't fit in any other article or have yet to be fit into an article.
- Sorcerers are often fashion trendsetters in Akellon.
- Oddly-colored hair (white, green, blue, purple, bright red, etc.) is usually considered a sign of magical ancestry (celestial, fiendish, fey, draconic, etc.). It isn't a foolproof identification method, though, especially with sorcerers tending to set fashion trends. Hair dyes of both magical and mundane natures are easily available; elves in particular are known for dyeing their hair and adding highlights of unusual colors.
- Oddly-colored eyes, on the other hand, usually do indicate a magical background. Contact lenses have not been invented yet, so if someone has oddly-colored eyes, it's usually due to either a spell or magical ancestry.
- All true dragons in Akellon can learn to take a humanoid or animal form, a la Eberron. As such, draconic ancestry is fairly common, especially among spellcasters.
- Pirates, adventurers, and trading companies form a trifecta that keeps the coast's economy thriving. Trading companies secure goods. Pirates steal and stash goods. Adventurers retrieve goods.
- Drow count on one hand. This is due to the influence of Drow Sign Language, where numbers are counted on the dominant hand.
- Chocolate and cinnamon are two of the main exports of Kaduar.
- There are seven planets currently known in Tonash's star system; Houpetor, Skaren, Luinelen, Tonash, Maelen, Bakina, and Kraidalt.
- Houpetor is a small planet close to the sun which can't currently be detected, but it's theorized that it exists due to the influence it has on other planets.
- Skaren is a rocky, baked little planet. Luinelen is a rocky planet which has an atmosphere, which appears as a bluish star in the night sky of Tonash. Maelen is a rocky world about the size of Tonash, which appears yellowish in Tonash's sky.
- Space functions much like it does in the real world… until you start introducing magic. Then, luminous aether comes into play, a substance known to exist among the stars detectable only through refined magical processes. This aether does not interact with the physical world unless forced to, either by something like a Spelljammer helm or by a nexus of very strong magic, like a planar rift or some magical anomaly. Luminous aether tends to do unexpected things to magic.
- Some theorize that aether can form "globs" and invisible meteors in the cosmos, or hitch rides on various cosmic materials should they form meteors or comets. Some also believe that an aetherstrike had a role to play in the creation of the Moscra Desert.
- Bakina and Kraidalt are gas giants beyond an asteroid belt. Bakina is pretty standard, but Kraidalt, the smaller one, is surrounded with unusual magical occurrences and mana storms due to its strange core material which attracts luminous aether. Study of Kraidalt from afar has led to much of the current knowledge about the aether.
- Astronomers and those who study the stars sometimes refer to weird magical (or seemingly magical) phenomena which are currently unexplained as being "Kraidaltic."
- Adamantine occurs in natural veins through the earth, but also on occasion drops from the sky in meteorites. Meteorites are therefore prime targets for treasure hunters.
- Duergar and derro have an unusual fascination with adamatine, and tend to collect it in large caches whenever possible.
