Raphael is the Gutterking of Central Mess, and is often referred to as The Gutterking. All other Gutterkings defer to him. He is a mysterious figure who is rarely seen, but whose influence is widely felt.
People who have seen Raphael describe him as being a human man of about 40 years with sandy blonde hair, although he is fond of using disguises to wander through "his" people unnoticed. Most people do not encounter him directly, but instead go through his right-hand man and emissary of sorts, a half-black-dragon man named Shaedra.
Oddly, no one can seem to remember a time when Raphael was not Gutterking of Central Mess, which has led to much speculation about the Gutterking's true identity. For his part, the Gutterking encourages this discussion, but does not give any hints. One thing is for certain, though… if Raphael cannot find something in Castleton, no one can.
