Faerie has connected.
Meany has connected.
Liatai:That's two…
VAE has connected.
Meany:Gasp.
Liatai:Three…
TMG has connected.
TMG:Hmm, this is taking some time to load…
Liatai:Sorry. I did have to resort to freeform lines in some places. ^^'
VAE:here!
Faerie:For the record, my grandparents are coming over in a little bit. I'll be able to stay on though.
TMG:huh, I…cannot tell if it loaded or not
TMG:it's a completely black screen…
TMG:wait, where are we starting?
Liatai:That's because it's a black screen right now.
TMG:(nvm, only one map)
Faerie:
TMG:Okay, liatai
TMG:go into your fogowar tool
Liatai:Why?
TMG:and clear some fog from where wer are supposed to place out tokens
TMG:just a little square
TMG:then use "tool" and "enforce vision"
Liatai:One second… let's see if this helps.
Liatai:Can you see the circle of grass around Sszeyl, there?
Faerie:I don't see anything.
TMG:with fog of war on, I cannot see anything until I place a token
Liatai:Ahh, I see.
TMG:You must clear a square
Liatai:One sec.
Liatai:… hmm. Then I think I've done something wrong.
Meany:I see things!
Liatai:I'm a little unclear on the distinction between fog of war and vision blocking.
Liatai:Meany: What kind of things?
TMG:fog of war is just like in a video game
TMG:it's a big black covering over anything we can't see
TMG:there is no vision blocking, then we can see everything, and the fog doesn't do much
Meany:I see the square with grass, some drawings, and Sszeyle.
TMG:if you haev vision blockiong but no fog
VAE:i see all that i need to see
Liatai:One second….
TMG:we can see the map, but not tokens hidden behind vision blocking
TMG:Use the Fog tool, not the vision tool
TMG:to cut out a square of the fog
Liatai:I'm trying, dangit. >
TMG:then use "tool" "enforce vision" to put us all at that point
TMG:and then I can drag in a token
TMG:…tell me exactly what you are trying to do…
TMG:there we go
Liatai:THERE. Can you see now?
Faerie:Ah. o.o
Liatai:All right, now let me just cover up some things.
TMG:crap, uh
TMG:set that gnoggle token to "has sight"
TMG:and ownership me, if it isn't already
Meany:Gnogglebolt 58 has appeared!
TMG:then pick it up and put it down to reset vision
TMG:Thank'ee. I have sight ^^
TMG:wait…it's gone now
Faerie:Should I place my token somehow?
Liatai:Gah. One second.
TMG:oh, wait a sec
VAE:why do i see sszeyl sstats but not gnogglebolt stats?
TMG:Liatai, give one of those tokens a light source
TMG:wait, nevermind
Liatai:Daytime!
Meany:And oodles of grass!
Liatai:It should be enough to start from. ^^
TMG:Okay. Filling in stats for gnoggle…
VAE:will i get one too?
Liatai:Trofim, coming right up. ^^
Liatai:Can you see him?
VAE:hehe.. i have reflex save of -1
VAE:yes indeed i can
Liatai:I have an Elros, too, but nothing's really filled in for him yet.
Faerie:Oh. I made my own token that's basically the same thing. x3
Faerie:Can I fill him in myself, or is that something you have to do?
Liatai:You should be able to fill him in yourself.
TMG:check his config tab
Faerie:…where? ;
TMG:set his properties to "player character" if it isn't already
TMG:double-click
TMG:double-click token, go to config tabe, make sure properties is set to "player character". Then to to the properties tab, and start filling in values
TMG:*tab
Faerie:Yeah, hang on
TMG:(and as for my token, imagine his face doesn't have the sideburns and goatee…>.> )
Faerie:Are those asking for score or modifier?
Liatai:Score. ^^
TMG:you could put both in if you like
TMG:as 15 (+2)
TMG:but MT doesn't care, as these values aren't being used for any macros ^^
Faerie:What number is movement? Speed?
Liatai:Yep.
TMG:actually, you could rename that real quick if you want, Liatai, to Speed (Spd)
Liatai:Meany, would you like me to fill out Sszeyl's stats, or would you like to?
Liatai:Ah, sure.
TMG:just click on player character, change the name, and hit update. This time, it should replace the existing one
Meany:I can't seem to find the fields to be filled in.
TMG:meany; double-click the token. Then, go to the config tab, make sure "properties" is set to "player character"
TMG:Then, go the to properties tab, and start filling stuff in
VAE:Heh, tech.. if you want, i can make you a cartoony char portrait like for me and meany, it will at least be accurate if not as pretty
TMG:ah, dan and meany, fill in your speed again
TMG:danman; ah, that's okay, this works ^^
VAE:how does speed arise again?
Liatai:Tech, two more quick questions about MapTool, if you don't mind… How do you send a whispered message to someone, and how do you roll dice, again?
TMG:It's pretty much exact, save for the extra facial hair
TMG:lia; ah ^^
TMG:to whisper, type /w name text
VAE:rolling dice is with square brackets
VAE:and std notation
Liatai:Speed arises during combat, to help determine how far you move in a round. ^^
TMG:to roll dice, type #d# (like 1d20), and put it in brackets ]
VAE:i mean how does the number arise
VAE:i am not that dumb
TMG:for example
VAE:is it racial like in 4.0 ?
TMG:« 1d20 = 20 »
TMG:damn! Nat 20!
VAE:bwhahaha
TMG:I shoulda saved that!
Liatai:XD
VAE:last time you see that today
Liatai:Too late, you've used up that luck. >:3
TMG:ffffffff
TMG:for another exampel!
TMG:« 1d8+3 = 8 + 3 = 11 »
TMG:you can put math in the rolls
Liatai:VAE: It's racial. For humans, it's 30 feet, unless you're… hang on. What armor are you wearing? Scale mail?
VAE:whoah… tech just used up a 64 bit integer above
VAE:ye
VAE:i will check it's stats
TMG:danman; eh? what are you talking about?
Liatai:VAE: Your speed is 20 feet, then.
VAE:goes to 20
VAE:ninja'd
TMG:(meany; doing okay with filling in Sszeyl's stuff?)
TMG:also! One more thing everyone must be reminded of
Gnogglebolt:"This is me, talking in-character"
VAE:well ffffffff is the highest qword (64bit) integer
Gnogglebolt:"I'm Gnogglebotl, nice to meet you."
Faerie:(How do you do that? )
TMG:Right-click token, "impersonate"
TMG:Everyone try it out
Elros:Very useful.
GM:Very useful, indeed.
Trofim:It sure is… Beridze, it sure is
TMG:GM token!
GM:Remember the Liatoken? :3
VAE:you just had a religious experience
Faerie:I don't, no.
TMG:I just use the mysterious "ifno" marker…but I like this better
VAE:the god spoke
TMG:And yes, of course I remember the Liatoken
GM::3
Faerie:Should I remember the Liatoken?
VAE:You sure should
Liatai:No. It was never here. »
Liatai:XD Kidding. The Liatoken is the first token I made when Tech was teaching me about MapTool.
TMG:(this is something between me and lia, from when I showed her how to use TokenTool )
Faerie:Ah, 'kay. x3
GM:I figured I'd get some use out of it.
VAE:Tech.. you can remove the beard in gimp using clone brush
VAE:if you do it well none will notice , not at this resolution
Faerie:1) Sofox is on IRC, 2) what image did the token come from?
TMG:I only have MS paint, and I never even use that :/
VAE:the Liatail comic i think
VAE:the last panel of it
Faerie:I don't recall that one.
GM:Nope, it's actually from a comic I did as a study aid.
VAE:ooh , taht one!
- Faerie nods slowly
VAE:the mechanics of ATP or what it was
GM:Yep, ATP synthase.
VAE:hehe.. that was pretty awesome
Faerie:Fanxy. x3
Faerie:*Fancy
TMG:Yes, sofox is indeed here!
TMG:it seems he may be able to come around right now!
Faerie:*smooch
Faerie:…fffffffffff
TMG:Anyone got a token handy for him?
VAE:danman's diagrams usually looked like they have been encrypted
VAE:for sofox?
Sofox has connected.
TMG:Yup ^^
Liatai:Let me dig around and see if I can find a half-elf… Ah! Sofox!
Liatai:Hello hello!
VAE:hello there!
TMG:We're in the middle of getting everything situated, so perfect timing
TMG:nothing has started yet
Sofox:Heya.
Sofox:Wow, really?
VAE:yep
Liatai:… Aw, shoot, someone help me out here. We've got Elros, Gnogglebolt, Sszeyl, Trofim, Alarian (eventually)… aack, Sofox, what's your character's name? I know it started with a T. ^^'
Sofox:Is my character sheet finished enough for now?
VAE:do you hsvr s portrait ready?
TMG:Tadrim
TMG:wait…
Meany:Gasp.
Sofox:Yeah Tadrim.
TMG:ohhhhhh shoot.
Liatai:Tadrim, thank you. ^^
TMG:We don't even have your weapons, sofox
VAE:Cog is not around, true
TMG:Okay, hurry to the IRC
VAE:well, he's a druid he'll fight unarmed
TMG:I'll help you get this down licketysplit
Sofox:'k.
Sofox:Thanks.
VAE:>;3
TMG:while Liatai finishes up things here
Sofox:Sorry for short notice.
Liatai:Not a problem!
Liatai:Well, I found an elf, but I can't tell whether it's supposed to be male or female… »
VAE:therefore it's a typical elf
Sofox:Is that a common problem?
VAE:i'd say yes. but then a lot of my characters are dwarves :3
Liatai:There we go, here's a male elf. Looks a little dour to be a hippie, though. I'll drag the token out so you can tell me what you think. ^^
TMG:Alrighty. As sofox's character is still half-way incomplete, and we're going to rush-job just weapons and armor at this point
TMG:he will not be starting the game with an animal companion. You okay with that, sofox?
Sofox:Whoopee, rush job!
Sofox:I shall find my companion some day.
Liatai:Hmmm. >:3
TMG:Alrighty. In addition, skill points are not allocated
Sofox:It will be a story worthy of the pilot of a kids animated TV show.
TMG:they will be done after this session
Liatai:Do you have an idea of what kind of animal companion you'll want?
Sofox:Yes.
Meany:Doo dee doo.
Meany:I recomend owlbear.
Sofox:Not really. Wolf maybe?
Sofox:Wait… owlbear?
Meany:Yes.
Meany:Owlbear.
TMG:I don't think they count, meany…>.>
Liatai:You can't have an owlbear as an animal companion, Meany. XD
Sofox:Is it more owl then bear, or more bear then wolf?
TMG:They're listed as "magical beast"
Meany:Rats. :/
TMG:sofox; it's a mad mage's freak of nature
TMG:it's in the Monster Manual
Liatai:Be back in two shakes.
TMG:Okay then, with the animal companion thing stated, back to IRC, sofoc
VAE:i remember them from Warcraft III
VAE:in Might and magic 6 there were weirder things though
VAE:Agar's creation
VAE:and flying eyes
TMG:Hey liatai, need a DM-call from you
TMG:Druids are not listed as being proficient with any bows.
TMG:This doesn't really make sense to me :/
Meany:Holy crap.
Meany:Tadrim is hawt.
TMG:(for one game, I also gave druids proficiency with scythes, but that is a bit beside the point… >.> )
Meany:"I will begin the harvest…of your souls!"
VAE:Meany, you scare me …
Meany:I try.
Meany::>
VAE:I mean, the hawt comment
Sofox:Meany: ?
Meany:Yes.
Meany:Again, I try.
Meany:?*
TMG:…you there, Liatai?
GM:It's the only male elf I could find. ^^'
Liatai:Or, at least, the only elf I could be sure was male. »
Meany::B
VAE:Kekeke
VAE:i have seen women like that thouhg
Sofox:….
VAE:england is a scary country compared to home
Sofox:Now I see it.
Liatai:I'm serious, there's probably a grand total of two male elves in this whole token set, and the other one is clearly a ranger. ^^'
VAE:mehehe
TMG:Liatai; did you catch what I asked above?
Sofox:Heh.
VAE:i would understand the lack of male drow though
Liatai:No, I didn't… *scrolls up*
VAE:he asked how the hell druids aren't proficient with bows
Liatai:Druids aren't proficient with bows? O_o
Liatai:Well that's not right.
TMG:That's what I thought.
Meany:Spearhead formation!
TMG:(oh, and you didn't set strict token ownership on the game's startup? >.> wait…did you also no check "use individual views"?)
TMG:*not check
TMG:so, how about it DM? additions to the druid wep list?
Liatai:I'll say that since Tadrim was raised with elven rangers, he's probably proficient with bows.
TMG:Okay, coolies
Meany:Enjoying the freedom of movement?
Liatai:Tech: Strict token ownership?
Liatai:Use individual views?
TMG:(and one more important question, Liatai; did you intend for us all to be able to see everyong each other's token can see, or only our own tokens"? )
TMG:Ah, um…
TMG:strict token ownership means we can't mess with any token we don't own.
TMG:For example.
Meany:Guys, my virtual memory is low, gotta kill Firefox.
TMG:I can fling around anyone else token right now
TMG:even though I don't own it
VAE:wow… i googled half-elf druid.. one of the images has the opposite problem- a female with very male face
Liatai:How do I change that, Tech?
TMG:…you have to restart the server…
Faerie:How do I set waypoints, again?
Liatai:Hmm.
Meany:Spacebar.
TMG:and also check "use individual views" so we can only see what our tokens sees, and not everyones
Liatai:Okay, can people stop moving for a second so I can save, then restart the server?
TMG:Okay guys, Liatai may have to reboot the server in a moment
TMG:Meany!
TMG:Knock it off!
Liatai:He just can't keep still, can he? XD
Liatai:All right, saving and restarting. Be back in a few.
You have disconnected.
Server started.
Meany has connected.
TMG has connected.
Meany:Gasp.
Faerie has connected.
TMG:Aw, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again…I shoulda known, shoulda known, shoulda known again"
Liatai:Better? ^^
TMG:Okay, can't mess around with anyone else's token
Faerie:I don't see anything.
TMG:Liatai; check his token
TMG:does it have sight?
Liatai:Can you now?
Faerie:There we go.
Liatai:It was just a matter of view field, Tech. ^^
Faerie:Good now.
TMG:aw crap, I seem to have misplaced the fox…
VAE has connected.
TMG:wait, nvm
VAE:here
Liatai:Yay, the fox has not been misplaced!
Sofox has connected.
VAE:as i have said in IRC there is a pic that might make a better portrait… though this one is good for teh lulz
Liatai:Up to Sofox. It's his character, after all. ^^
VAE:i know , just announcing
VAE:also did you see the funny pic?
Liatai:Oh, and I've forgotten if I've said it before, but I also volunteer my pencil if people want character portraits.
Liatai:I did, and immediately right-clicked it and saved it. XD
VAE:you dud say that, in fact that's when i have announced that i work crappier but quicker ^^'
VAE:i think i know how discworld arose
VAE:as a that kind of mount
VAE:no wait.. that does not even need it
VAE:nvm
Meany:
VAE:why is Meany staring like a puck?
Meany:Only took…what, five minutes for it to load this time?
Liatai:Like a puck? Is that an unusual euphemism of some kind, or…?
VAE:i don't know
VAE:it's an exact translation of a slovak expression
VAE:"Cumi ako puk"
VAE:it's used for that kind of stare… but i have no idea why
Liatai:Ahh.
Liatai:*shrug*
VAE:and now i am glad i drink tea
Meany:So, what's left to do?
VAE:i poured some on myself as the glass is so dark inside, and the room low-light that i accidentally poured some on myself
Liatai:I'll admit, I jumped ship to soda for a moment. »
TMG:Just trying to get Sofox's weapons sorted out…
Liatai:It's traditional for GMing around here; soda and pistachios. Unfortunately, I have no pistachios. :
VAE:and the fact the tea isn't sweet means it will sort itself out in a while by natural drying
Liatai:*
VAE:soda would leave me sticky
Liatai:VAE: That is fortunate, indeed. ^^
VAE:hmm , i have a coke sixpack …
VAE:at current d cons./dt it seems it will last until i will be a gm ^^'
Liatai:XD
VAE:btw, if i ever get that going, there might be a guy from NationStates joining that game
Meany:Gasp.
Meany:Well?Tell us about him?
VAE:heh.. 1d4 - 2 will be healing the enemy in one case
VAE:Well , our regional chair and the WA delegate before i took that over
VAE:Is an ukrainian living in england
Liatai:XD No, it wouldn't. It would just deal 0 damage.
VAE:i know.. but it would be funny
Liatai:"Sling stone of healing!" *WHOK* "… hey, I feel better now!"
VAE:actually i can see that this combined wiht a damage reduction artefact could be used for just that
VAE:if you wear something that takes down the damage of attacks by even 2 , that sling could be used for healing outside of combat
Meany:"The pain needs to get worse before I feel motivated to help you. To facilitate this, meet Madame Chainsaw."
VAE:bwhaha
TMG:Litai; IRC. May need your help to figure this out
Liatai:Madame Chainsaw, you say…? >:3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRXtwaAoPS0 Meany:The link is malformed, according to youtube. :c
Liatai:Let me post it into IRC.
VAE:it works for me
VAE:you copied it wrong
Meany:xD
Liatai:All right, folks, I'm going to do a little more packing while we wait. If you need me, just say something on MapTool. ^^
Meany:How fare Sofox?
Liatai:He's working on armor now, I think.
TMG:Moving along…
VAE:'llright
TMG:almost done
TMG:just jotting down spells per day, then we fill in AC value, and he'll be good for now
TMG:Okay, he's done
Faerie:I might ask for a delay after that. actually. Not sure.
TMG:Liatai; he is uploading to Swap momentarily
TMG:be ready to nab it
Meany:What's going on, Faerie?
Faerie:my grandparents have been over for a while. They might be going out for a few minutes, but I don't know.
Faerie:Basically, I might or might not go for ice cream.
Faerie:
Liatai:Yum. ^^
Faerie:Ice cream frozen with liquid nitrogen. o3o
Sofox:Faerie: You've tasted that?
Faerie:Yeah. Very smooth.
Sofox:Char sheet on swap.
Liatai:
Sofox:Faerie: Awesome, where was this?
Sofox:I think I had some once but damn it if I'm not sure.
VAE:hmm… makes me want to misappropriate some from the department
Sofox:Creamy if I remember…
Sofox:There's always a good reason to steal liquid nitrogen.
VAE:the only thing we used it for was a materials lab
Sofox:I'd almost say that stealing it is reason enough in and of itself.
Sofox:So yeah Liatai, my char sheet is in swap
Faerie:Sofox: This is a local place in my town.
Liatai:Got it, thank you. ^^
VAE:that's true… it's slightly hard
VAE:when i was small we had shitloads
TMG:Oh, and about the sling business earlier; no attack, if it hits, can be reduced to below 1 damage
VAE:my uncle was an inseminator so he had huge containers of it
TMG:Anyway! Liatai, might want to fill in Sofox's token for him
TMG:and once that's done…
TMG:The campaing will finally Start!
Liatai:Well, you guys can start off while I do that, if you like. The first section is all roleplaying, anyway. :3
Liatai:Would you like me to give you flavor text to start you off?
VAE:yep
Meany:Yes, please.
GM:Then I shall.
Sofox:Hooray, my first DnD!
VAE:made by fisher-price of course ;D
Faerie:x3
Sofox:The best kind!
Liatai:Just so everyone is aware, we are starting in Castleton. Now, I have a question for Faerie and Sofox… Do you guys want to actually start in the city proper, or do you want to be coming into the city?
Sofox:in medias res
Sofox:Actually, I don't mind, whatever's more exciting.
TMG:(my guy is either in, or has just left, a library x3 )
TMG:oh, wait!
TMG:Holdup, before getting started
Faerie:I could see going with either, though if the group hasn't mt yet, I can more easily picture starting in the city.
VAE:(hmm, how did Trofim get to castleton from lorrelon?)
TMG:Everyone demonstrate you can roll dice and impersonate your token
Liatai:Then it might be best to actually start in the city. ^^
Meany:Tadim's token isn't filled in.]]
Liatai:It will be once I get you guys started. ^^
Faerie:« 2d4 = 3 »
TMG:(meany; Liatai's working on it)
Elros:And this
VAE:« 1d1 = 1 » unexciting
TMG:To roll dice, put #d# in square brackets
VAE:i just rolled a mobius strip
TMG:To impersonate your token, right-click and select "impersonate"
Meany:« roll 2d6 = Invalid expression: roll 2d6. »
TMG:Okay alex is check for rolling and and impersonating
Faerie:Don't type roll.
TMG:Meany is not checked>.>
Meany:« 2d6 = 3 »
TMG:Okay, now checked for rolling. Impersonate?
TMG:and danman is checked for rolling…
Sszeyl:Boom shaka laka.
Sofox:2d
TMG:Alex and Meany checked.
Sofox:1d4>
TMG:in square brackets, sofox
Tadrim:Hello
Sofox:« 1d7+4 = 1 + 4 = 5 »
TMG:okay, sofox is checked for imperonate…and roll
TMG:and I'm pretty sure I saw Danamn impersonate ealrier, so…
TMG:Okay, were' good! ^^
TMG:Continue, gracious DM :3
TMG:Describe the great city of Castleton to us!
Trofim:?????????!
Meany:Is it aflame with the fires of love? And actual fire?
Faerie:Is it an empty field of grass?
VAE:is it full of nasty o's and k's ?
Tadrim:Does it have a shop that sells video games?
Sszeyl:I swear that orphanage attacked me.
Sofox:Sorry, I'll cut out the anachronisms.
Sofox:Does it have a pub?
- Elros eyes Sszeyl
GM:Ah, market day in Castleton! The sky is clear, the sun is high, and the people are busy and noisy. All in all, a typical day. A little background information for you…
Meany: (( How do you do that, Faerie? ))
- Trofim demonstrates
Faerie:(( Just, like, giving you a look. ))
GM:Yes, there are plenty of pubs. X3 There are three of note that are often talked about; the Drunken Rat in the market district, the Pinwheel in the arcane district, and the Fox and Grapes in the nobles' district.
Trofim:Like in the channels someone said.. but there's no sea …
Meany: (( …. ))
- VAE thwaps meany - like on IRC dummy!
- Meany like so?]]
Tadrim:So hello my hearty companions.
Faerie:(( Oh, sorry, misread. Just type /me ))
- Tadrim is hale and hearty
Sofox:We are together at the moment are we not?
TMG:sofox; no, I don't think so
TMG:this is us wandering around, about to meet each other
Trofim:*whispers* Hmm, Beridze… someone's greeting us… i hope it isn't their man
GM:The city itself has five main districts; the local street people call them mess halls, for reasons that are not entirely clear to those who spend their lives on the surface of the city. In the center, there is the market, alive and bustling. In the northeast, the arcane district, home to arcane academies and a multitude of crazy wizard types. In the southeast, residential areas and shops. In the southwest, the homes of the nobility and the old castle that gave the city its name. In the northwest, temples, higher-end shops, and government buildings.
GM:So, where are you on this fine day?
Faerie:I imagine Tadrim and I might be othether, huh?
Sofox:Yep
- Trofim is shouting on the street as mages enter their workplace, trying to rally people without much success
Sofox:So where are we?
VAE:Trofim is probably in the northeast district
GM:Where do you want to be? It's a clear day, the market is bustling.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt was quite far from home. As one of the grandest cities in Akellon, however, Gnogglebotl was feeling almost comfortable again. Not quite, though. Not a clockork device to be found. HE spent the last few days simply drifint around the city, so far, not having any success finding any fellow gnomes. Today, however, he had just finished studying at one of Castleton's larger libraries in the center of the city, researching giant culture and language. It intrigued him. Now, he wandered around Castleton's central market district, ready for another gnome-less day…
GM:Trofim, I'd like you to roll a Spot check, if you please.
VAE:« 1d20 = 7 »
VAE:ineed to check the char sheet
Sofox:I am in the library too.
Faerie:I'm in the central market, I think.
VAE:nothing in spot, so this is it, unless an ability modifier adds
Sofox:I am in the Fantasy section, reading a gripping tale about a insurance actuary.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt was also glad to be in such an urban area for another reason. Unlike many of the outlying towns, he didn't get as many odd looks for his clothing, tools, and gadgets.
GM:You see someone on the edge of the crowd who seems somewhat interested in what you're saying… Someone short, in a grey cloak, riding on top of a huge (and very fluffy) dog.
Sofox:Eh, we'll just say Faerie and I temporarily split up yet he knows where I am.
TMG:sofox; I said that Goggle had just left the library, and was now in the central market
Trofim:Beridze, someone is watching us!
TMG:(if that was why you placed your char at the library)
Meany: (( Dear lord, you lot are lightning quick, aren't you? ))
Sofox:I'm going with my mistake…
TMG:(ootherwise, druids generally aren't comfortable in urban environments… >.>)
TMG:(heh)
Trofim:You are right.. it's best if we approach him, rather than if he finds us later… Assasins don't like crowds
GM:Could you roll another Spot check, Trofim?
Trofim:Trofim walks towards the stranger, holding his flail firmly.
Trofim:« 1d20 = 14 »
Tadrim:Wow, this is a gripping read, what if our hero didn't correctly predict the probabilty of a house fire?
GM:You notice something else, now, too… Namely, an even smaller humanoid figure in a red cloak running off with your wallet.
TMG:(oh WOW)
TMG:xD
GM:(>:3)
Trofim:"Hey you!" Trofim shouts and swings his heavy flail in the direction of the thief
GM:Attack roll!
Trofim:« 1d20 = 9 »
TMG:(Alex; your character can be anywehre in the city you want. If he is witnessing this, then go ahead and play what he sees…)
GM:One moment while I check the AC of this guy…
VAE:have a bonud of 1 due to focus feat
TMG:By the way Meany, where is Sszeyl?
VAE:*bonus
TMG:danman; start putting your bonuses in your rolls
TMG:like this « 1d12+3 = 7 + 3 = 10 »
GM:The flail swings wide and misses.
Faerie:(TMG: I figured he was waiting for Tadrim in the central market, so he wouldn't be seeing this.)
GM:Trofim, what languages do you speak?
TMG:(alex; alright then, that's your call.)
Faerie:(Though he might hear the commotion, at this rate.)
Trofim:« [ common, draconic] = Invalid expression: [ common, draconic]. »
TMG:don't bracket words, danman
VAE:« [it does not let me use apple comments] = Invalid expression: [it does not let me use apple comments]. »
VAE:that was our convention in apples
GM:Well, you can't tell what he's saying, but it sounds like he's gloating. He dashes off toward the market district.
GM:Anyone here speak Goblin?
Trofim:Damn!
TMG:well, that's not how it works here. Use impersonate when talking in-character
Trofim:Trofim chases after the man
TMG:GM: as a matter of fact, Gnoggle does!
TMG:I dunno if he is witnessing this, though…
GM:And Gnoggle is in the market district, yes? Roll a Listen check.
TMG:okey-dokey
Meany: (( Sszeyl is waiting for me to update his sheet, whereupon he can exist. ))
Gnogglebolt:Listen Check: « 1d20+2 = 17 + 2 = 19 »
Faerie:(( I'm in central market as well.))
GM:Want to roll a Listen check, as well?
Tadrim:I tire of reading the book, I start to leave the library.
Faerie:((Actually, I think I'm being pulled away for ice cream. :x)
TMG:lulz
Liatai:Ah, yum! Enjoy
Faerie:((I'll let you know when I'm back, sorry ^^; ))
Liatai:There will doubtless be something fun to join in when you return.
Faerie:((I'm in a shop, or something.))
GM:Gnogglebolt: You hear angry cursing, and a high-pitched goblin voice shouting the glory of Granch Redmaw into the sky triumphantly… whoever Granch Redmaw is.
GM:Spot check, Gnoggle.
TMG:(by the way, you can whisper information that only a specific character knows)
GM:Sofox, would you like to roll a Spot check as well?
TMG:Spot…
GM:Tech: Oh, I know. >:3
Gnogglebolt:Spot check: « 1d20 = 9 »
GM:Oh dear.
GM:Reflex save. ^^'
TMG:o>o
TMG:o>o
TMG:o.O
Sofox:Erm, what's a spot check?
Gnogglebolt:Reflex save « 1d20+4 = 4 + 4 = 8 »
Liatai:((Oh, right, you haven't done skills yet o.o))
TMG:I'm certain he won't put ranks in it anyway
Liatai:((Hmm… roll 1d20, and add your Wisdom modifier. ^^' ))
TMG:just roll 1d20 plus your wis mod
GM:Gnogglebolt: Well, you heard it, but your reflexes weren't quite quick enough to avoid it. The goblin barrels past you and knocks you over.
VAE:erm.. there is trofim running after him, right?
GM:Yep. Want to roll a Reflex save, too?
VAE:hehe
Gnogglebolt:As Gnogglebotl moved through the marketplace, he heard a sudden commotion, and a voice shout in…wait a sec. He hasn'
Trofim:« 1d20-1 = 20 - 1 = 19 »
GM:You avoid stepping on the gnome! Huzzah!
VAE:oh bastet, critical hit on a save
Gnogglebolt:He hasn't heard that since Mazio. Someone shouting in the Goblin tongue. Whoever it was shouted something about "Gaunch Redmaw"…and moments later, Gnogglebolt foudn himself flat on his back, knocked over by someone running past, seemingly the same who shouted in Goblin earlier
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebotl shouts back in Goblin
Meany: (( I seem unable to attach files in the Swap. ))
Trofim:"Catch the thief!"
TMG:meany; trying to attach to a draft?
Trofim:trofim sees the fumble and tries to catch the offender
TMG:gotta attach it, then save
VAE:the guy must have slowed down from the collision
GM:Make an attack roll.
Meany: (( It won't let me attach in the first place. ))
Trofim:« 1d20+1 = 6 + 1 = 7 »
VAE:arghlblargh!
GM:No luck, you can't grab him. He keeps running.
Trofim:Trofim continues the chase
GM:Sofox, did you ever roll that Spot check? I can't remember. ^^'
VAE:drat! i forgot to add the strength modifier
VAE:should have been +2 but who cares
GM:Still wouldn't have caught him, sadly.
VAE:i know- that's my usual luck … i have stories
Gnogglebolt:Gogglebolt picks himself up off his feet as a human in armor rushes past as well, attempting to attack the one who knocked Gnogglebolt over. Gnogglebolt snarls in multiple languages for a moment, looking at the chase. there's no waht his small legs could let him keep up (although the huamn seemed to be encumbred with armor). With nothing better to do for the moment, Gnogglebolt starts looking for the nearest city guard to report to.
Sofox:I don't have skills down yet.
TMG:sofox;
TMG:just roll 1d20+ wis mod
TMG:we said that already
Sofox:« 1d20 + 3 = 11 + 3 = 14 »
GM:Care to roll another Spot check for me, Tech? The crowd is, after all, full of tall humans.
Meany: (( Is someone else on the Swap, by any chance? ))
VAE:not me
Gnogglebolt:Spot check: « 1d20 = 11 »
Liatai:Not I.
TMG:meany; what is the problem?
TMG:talk, man
VAE:talk the liatalk !
Meany: (( Whenever I click the attach file button, it does nothing. ))
TMG:by what do you mean "it does nothing"?
TMG:absolutely nothing comes up?
GM:Tadrim, you notice another small fellow in a red cloak bumping into you on your way out of the library. You also notice him trying to make off with your wallet.
GM:Seems there's a goblin crime wave about today…
Meany: (( Correct. ))
Tadrim:I tackle him.
GM:Attack roll!
GM:That's 1d20 plus your base attack bonus plus your Strength bonus.
GM:Strength modifier, sorry. ^^'
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 -2 = 16 + 1 - 2 = 15 »
GM:You manage to tackle him!
Tadrim:Give me back my wallet!
TMG:(wait a sec…)
GM:He squirms around and spits out Goblin curses.
TMG:(would a druid even -have- a wallet? o.O )
VAE:a pouch, yes
Tadrim:… I mean, pouch.
VAE:the contents are the interesting part
Tadrim:I punch him forcefully for good measure.
GM:Gnogglebolt, you see several people in armor in the crowd.
GM:Tadrim: Making an unarmed attack, eh? Make another attack roll.
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 -2 = 7 + 1 - 2 = 6 »
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt heads towards them (and surely he's already seen whatever mark identifies city guardsmen, and whether these armored humans bear them)
TMG:uh, sofox…
TMG:is your base attack bonus 1 or 0?
TMG:base attack bonus, not the attack bonus for your shortbow.;..
Trofim:Meanwhile, Trofim is still chasing after the goblin, getting somewhat tired, but pressing on
Sofox:Dammit!
Sofox:Sorry, it's 0
Sofox:« 1d20 + 0 -2 = 6 + 0 - 2 = 4 »
Trofim:The red cloak one! Catch him! Thief!
GM:Your punch hits the goblin's red-dyed armor; he's really squirming around in your grasp. He keeps swearing in Goblin.
TMG:whoa, hold on a sec..
Tadrim:I attack again
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 0 -2 = 1 + 0 - 2 = -1 »
TMG:is this an actual grapple, Tadrim is in with the goblin? o.O
GM:Well, he is trying to pin the goblin down, yes.
Sofox:Oh yeah, grapple is -2
Meany: (( O: It works now! ))
GM:Not the same goblin as the one Trofim saw.
Sofox:« 1d20 -2 = 20 - 2 = 18 »
GM:So, you keep a hold on him, but you didn't hurt him any.
TMG:all actions in grapple 9including attempting to damage someone) require opposed gra[pple checks, instead of attack rolls
Sofox:???
TMG:sofox; you just -had- to dive -right- into one of the most complictaed parts of combat in ANY tabletop game XD
Sofox:Yes.
VAE:yes he did *riding basket to hell*
Sofox:I… I didn't even…
TMG:Right-o! I know most of the system, and have it on ready, so start the combat rounds
Sofox:Yes
TMG:Goblin vs Tadrim
GM:Gnogglebolt: You see a city guard eating an apple, another human guard looking over the crowd, and also a half-elf wearing the armor of one of the kingdom's knights. Who do you approach?
Sofox:Literally dived right into it.
GM:XD
GM:The goblin attempts to wiggle free… Grapple check.
Gnogglebolt:Gnoggle approaches the human guard looking over the crowd. He looks up to the tall man, and says with some urgency, "Excuse me sir, there appears to be pickpoceting in progress down the street…" Gnogglebolt points the way the human and the goblin went
Sofox:How?
GM:(Although I doubt he's going to be escaping any time soon… »)
TMG:(if the goblin is Small-size, this should be easy for Tadrim x3 )
GM:1d20 plus your Grapple modifier.
TMG:Sofox; look at your sheet
Sofox:[1d20 -2
TMG:there should be a grapple modifier
Sofox:« 1d20 -2 = 19 - 2 = 17 »
TMG:basically what you've been rolling this whole time
VAE:is there any keyboard shortcut for impersonate?
TMG:danmanl; there…might be, but I don't know it
TMG:actually, probebly not, because you have to select a token first
Guard:Huh? *rolls a Spot check*
Guard:« 1d20+3 = 4 + 3 = 7 »
Guard:Where?
Liatai:((Hmm, I'm going to have to draw some tokens for some NPCs…))
GM:Tadrim, you manage to hold onto him!
GM:Trofim, your thief is making his way toward the southern city gate… where there seems to be a commotion of some kind.
Tadrim:I aim a swift blow to him
GM:Tadrim, would you roll initiative for me? That's 1d20 plus your Dexterity modifier.
Trofim:Trofim continues to chase, hoping that the thief will have to slow down and make another attempt
Trofim:* he will make
Gnogglebolt:"They have already run off, perhaps you can send someone to investigate? And I must comment, this appears to be quite lax public security…"
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 = 9 + 1 = 10 »
Guard:*doesn't deign to comment on the lax security remark* Can you describe the suspect?
GM:The goblin makes another attempt to wiggle free… Grapple check time.
Tadrim:« 1d20 -2 = 8 - 2 = 6 »
Sofox:Dammit.
GM:Whoops! He slipped out of your grasp!
GM:Now it's your combat turn. Go ahead. ^^
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 -2 = 1 + 1 - 2 = 0 »
Gnogglebolt:"I did not get a good look, but the suspect was likely a goblin, as he spoke their tongue. He was wearing a red cloak. He was beeing chased by an armor-clad human, presumably his victim."
GM:Oh, ouch. Roll another d20.
Guard:*grumbles* Redmaw again…
TMG:wait a sec…are you doing critical fumble rules, Liatai?
Meany:Sszeyl was in hell. The difficulties of the surface had been beyond what he had expected. Not only was half of the day spent bathed in so much light, he either had to get used to the purpel tint of his sun lenses, or cling to the bottom of the wagon as he and Zairith travelled. Then there was the air…it was crisp, and refreshing, but overwhelmingly so. Like every breath was like he had just eaten a mint. And the sky…the sheer open-ness of it overwhelmed him. And he was afraid. For the first time in a long time he was afraid, and afraid to look up of all things. He spent most of the journey in the back of the cart, forcing himself to look at the sky, because his training told him that he was afraid, then those who were not afraid would capitalize on his fear. And then he would be dead. There were some things that weren't so bad. Like the moon, and the stars. Sszeyl would never publicly admit, but he very much wanted to write a song about them, even though he had other priorities at the moment. Like approaching the former Human capital, and intending to survive.
Liatai:He did roll a natural 1.
Meany:« [Whoopsie.] = Invalid expression: [Whoopsie.]. »
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 -2 = 9 + 1 - 2 = 8 »
Faerie:(( I'm back, btw. ))
TMG:liatai; part of the balancing factor of technological devices is that, under -normal- rules, there are no critical fumbles
Meany: (( Sorry. ^^ Forgot to impersonate. ))
TMG:I told you about this a long time ago…
TMG:you said you weren't putting it in
Liatai:What?
Liatai:And I think I told you, technological devices work under different rules than combat.
Sofox:I cause another DM argument.
Sofox:Must be my chaotic nature.
TMG:when I was first showing you the tech device rules and how they worked, I explained malfunctions and critical malfunctions, and the reason that was balancing is because normal rules don't have crit fumbles
Liatai:There are no critical failures or successes on a skill check.
TMG:and no, you never said anything like that…
TMG:no critical failure for an attack, either
Liatai:I've never played a game where there were no critical fumbles. :/
VAE:hmm we did use one- when you rolled a natural 20 it counted as 25
TMG:and the houserul you proposed a few days ago was removing the confrim role for critical hits
TMG:and yeah, I think you mentioned that when I told you about it
VAE:yes, and it got accepte
TMG:danman; no it didn't
VAE:how did the vote end? it was something close then
TMG:sofox never weighed in, but let's not bother that right now
VAE:how much was it again?
Meany:We needed Sofox's vote.
Liatai:OK, here's what I propose.
TMG:danman; forget it, not now
Sofox:I vote whatever makes me win more.
TMG:I have to explain the whole thing to Sofox
VAE:that's a thing to argue about
TMG:so we can do that later
Liatai:Critical hits and fumbles are in combat. (Namely, because critical fumbles are half the fun.)
VAE:true
Liatai:However, SKILL CHECKS, like those made to operate technological devices, do NOT have critical successes or failures.
Liatai:Is this acceptable?
VAE:YES
TMG:whoa, what the…
TMG:youa re removing malfunctions entirely?
Liatai:That's not what I said.
TMG:malfunctions are dependant on skill check
VAE:malfunctions are a separate rule
Liatai:This is something we will have to discuss later, I believe.
TMG:and you just said
TMG:SKILL CHECKS, like those made to operate technological device
Liatai:Right now, this discussion is derailing the game, and I'd like to get back to the plot. ^^'
VAE:yes, she mentioned normal DnD rules skill checka
TMG:malfunctions are dependant on exactly that check
Faerie:I'd like to get -into- the plot.
Liatai:Gnogglebolt doesn't even have any technological devices yet.
VAE:your character is from wow d20 so it might as well use different methodics
TMG:okay, -ormal- D&d rules, there are no critical fumbles
TMG:if we want to houserul that in, we should do that later
TMG:*normal
VAE:So i call a vote
TMG:danman; LATER
TMG:we need to get on now
VAE:erm… i am not the one stalling
VAE:the vote will resolve it and take about as long as we typing the above sequence
TMG:vote later!
TMG:I have to explain the wehole thing to sofox is we vote
TMG:*whole
- VAE glares
GM:Faerie: Feel free to jump in if you want. After all, there's quite a commotion going around. ^^
TMG:he has to understand what he's voting on
TMG:and we don't have time for that
Sofox:I submit a 1d2 dice roll for my vote.
Sofox:« 1d2 = 2 »
VAE:there is 6 of us. If 4 vote for, you don't need to
Liatai:Either way, he would have succeeded and avoided hurting himself/falling over/etc., so it really doesn't matter right now.
TMG:no, sofox, don't bother
TMG:so yes, let's continye
TMG:*continue
VAE:'llright
Sofox:'k
Sofox:So…. shall I roll or…?
TMG:no
TMG:we're moving on
- VAE prepares more tea
VAE:OK
GM:The goblin runs down the street, still holding on to your wallet, Tadrim. What do you do?
Sofox:Tackle again.
GM:Attack roll!
Tadrim:« 1d20 + 1 -2 = 15 + 1 - 2 = 14 »
GM:Nice! You managed to grab his cloak.
Tadrim:I pull hard.
GM:YANK
GM:« 1d20 = 8 »
- Elros ambles out of a shop. He thought he heard something and besides, the shopkeeper didn't have anything that piqued his interest. He looks around. "Come on," he thinks to himself "Tadrim can't have gotten himself in that much trouble yet, can he?"
GM:You pulled him off his feet!
Tadrim:Hah, I jump on his torso area.
Meany: (( Should I repost properly, or will the failure suffice? ))
VAE:failure suffices i guess
TMG:anyway, just went back and read your intro, Meany. Good job
TMG:But yeah, a repost might be warranted ^^;
Guard:*to Gnogglebolt* Hrmm. There is already an ongoing investigation into the work of Granch Redmaw and his gang. You need not concern yourself, citizen.
Meany: (( I had an entire paragraph about his raction to grass, but it can wait.))
GM:So, shall we wait for you to arrive, Elros, or should I roll for the goblin?
Sszeyl:Sszeyl was in hell.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt simply looks at the guard for the moment, then bows, saying "Very well." Gnogglebolt wanders away. Perhaps there was some way he could help….but then again, interfearing might impede a real investigation should he stumble across one.
Elros:(( I was gonna stay within visual range, but stay back a ways for now. ))
GM:Gnogglebolt, if you could roll a Spot check, please?
GM:Oh, OUCH. The goblin rolled a 1. XD
Gnogglebolt:More Spot: « 1d20 = 4 »
GM:Tadrim, you handily manage to jump on the goblin, who makes a noise like a squeaky toy and then keeps cursing.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt's goggles fell over his face for a moment, and he spent a minute fumbling with them and resetting them.
Elros:Elros leans against the wall of a nearby building. He can see his brother fighting a goblin down the street. "Interesting. Let's see what he can do, for once."
VAE:this so reminds me of the drakengard jawgv - throwing enemies like rags while doing little damage
GM:When he lifts them up, he can see another small humanoid figure, this one riding on a large (and very fluffy) dog and wearing a grey cloak, scanning the crowd.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt notices the curiosity (and also most of the crowd's lack of reaction to it, typical urban community. Made him feel right at home…), and walks a little closer (but not too close), examining the dog-riding humanoid
GM:The humanoid appears to be a human child… or perhaps a halfling, it's difficult to tell from this far away, and with the hood drawn up over her face. The dog is very big, very fluffy, and resembles a Great Pyrenees.
VAE:As he chases after , trofim gets an idea.
Trofim:Beridze, what do you think - if i throw the ratkilling spell at him, he might be surprised enough to slow down…
Trofim:(wants to cast inflict minor wounds - the level 0 1hp version)
Trofim:Ah, i would have thought so
Gnogglebolt:Gogglebolt figures this person is just another stranger passing through the city, like himself, and contents himself with observing the small person on the dog to see if they do anything interesting, at least for a little.
Meany is disconnected.
TMG:o.O
VAE:crap
GM:The small person approaches the guard you spoke to. Do you eavesdrop?
Liatai:— crud. O.o
VAE:should i roll a d20 for the attack? does the fact he is running impose a -1 or -2?
Meany has connected.
VAE:wb!
Gnogglebolt:As Gnogglebolt watches the dog-rider *heya, meany*, the person goes to the same guard Gnoggle had just spoken to. Curious coincidence. Gnogglebolt moved closer to hear what was being said…
GM:Listen check… and maybe another Spot check, too, while you're at it.
Gnogglebolt:Listen check: « 1d20+2 = 11 + 2 = 13 » and Spot check: « 1d20 = 2 »
Elros:I draw my crossbow, take aim at the goblin my brother is fighting, and fire a bolt at him.
GM:The guard leans down to talk to the dog-rider… then straightens quickly, blinking. He clears his throat.
TMG:wait…the ranger has a crossbow-? Oh, proficient in all simple and martial weapons.
TMG:Huh.
VAE:and i ask again what would the modifiers for casting while running be , if any…
TMG:danman; actually, you can't
VAE:good enough for an answer
TMG:you have to hold still for at least a standard action, if that's how long the spell is to cast
VAE:that's… 6 seconds?
Guard:*quietly* No, ma'am, no, I didn't, I apologize profusely, ma'am…
TMG:danman; sssort of. A full-round action is 6 seconds. You can have one standard action, a standard action and a move action, or two move actions in a round
TMG:but never more than one standard action
VAE:hmm, it seems that wouldn't work as a plan then… he would lose him completely then
Elros:attack « 1d20+1+3 = 5 + 1 + 3 = 9 »
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt hears the guard…apologizing to the dog-rider? And addressing her as ma'am? "Curiouser…" Gnogglebolt whispers to himself.
VAE:no ,wait.. if he slows down enough he will just get 30 ft (13m) ahead.. that would work
TMG:is inflict a touch spell or a ranged spell?
GM:The bolt misses, and clatters against the flagstones of the road.
GM:Touch range.
VAE:ouch
VAE:that's right
TMG:what's the range?
VAE:nvm *facepalms*
VAE:touch
VAE:i realised now
TMG:touch attack only, not ranged touch?
VAE:and fi have been ninja'd by liatai
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*sounding disappointed, a high-pitched female voice* Aww… did anyone see?
VAE:i can check it
GM:I'd suggest looking it up, yeah.
GM:The goblin swears some more.
VAE:yes, it is touch
VAE:i have phb open
Guard:Yes, ma'am, actually, ma'am, there was a gnome… wore goggles, strange accent… Mazian, maybe…
VAE:it even explicitly says "when laying hands"
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt moves a little closer, keeping hidden behind market stalls, and making like he is examining his tools to anyone passing by
- VAE facepalms some more
Gnogglebolt:He suddenly jerks up at the mention of 'gnome', and especially 'Mazian'
TMG:(hey Meany, where's Sszeyl right now?"
TMG:(Got any more juciy posts about him for us?)
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*also perks up* Ooooh! A lead! Which way did he go?
VAE:good… trofim's selfspeak suggests he realised through beridze it wouldnt work - i don't need to retcon *phew*
Guard:Off into the… miss, if I may be so bold, where is…?
Elros:Drat. The wind must've changed. I reload my crossbow with another bolt, take aim, and fire again.
Elros:« 1d20+1+3 = 18 + 1 + 3 = 22 »
Dog-Rider (temporary token):I'll be okay! I've got Papa with me! *beams and bounces up and down a little, scanning the crowd*
GM:Ah, that's a hit! Roll for damage.
Elros:damage « 1d8 = 2 »
Meany: (( I live! ))
Sofox:Guys, I'm really losing focus here, it's late and my minds not in it.
GM:The bolt zips through the air and pierces the goblin's leg through the calf!
Sofox:I might have to leave you guys, if that's okay.
Meany: (( I'm blind as a fucking bat but I live! ))
TMG:ah, there you are, Meany
TMG:and darn, that's a shame, sofox
Meany:Aaand the game's dead already.
Liatai:Sofox: Ah, that's OK. Sorry it took so long to get started. ^^'
TMG:no no, we still have four people
TMG:Liatai can just put Sofox's char in the background
Sofox:I'll try to make it next Friday, but no promises.
VAE:@sofox.. late? it's 11pm~~
Sofox:I'm surprised as you.
TMG:danman; again, not everyone stays up till 5 in the morning
VAE:now 5 is late
Faerie:Sofox could leave plausibly somehow, I can take this goblin. I think we can still continue.
VAE:even 2 would be late
Sofox:I've been tired a lot this week and it just has come crashing down.
VAE:but 11 isn't late in any way
Liatai:All right, Sofox. Take care, and rest well.
Sofox:Well it FEELS late.
Sofox:Soryr.
Sofox:*Sorry
Sofox:Not a great start to my first DnD session.
VAE:hehe, allright
VAE:but then say "i am tired" , not "it's late"
Faerie:
Faerie:In any case, goodnight Sofox
Liatai:Hehe, sorry. ^^'
Liatai:Good night
Sofox:You're right.
Sofox:Night.
VAE:good night
Sofox is disconnected.
GM:Anyway!
GM:The goblin is still pinned under your brother, Elros, and is now wounded.
Elros:I put away my crossbow, and cautiously approach the goblin.
GM:Meany, you can continue with the stuff at the city gate whenever you want.
Meany: (( Um…Apparently, I haven't finished loading the Grasslands. ^^; ))
GM:The goblin continues to spit curses in Goblin.
GM:((That's OK, we're not using the map just yet, anyway.))
Meany: (( I didn't realize there was stuff going on at the gates at all.))
VAE:can i do an athletics check to try to close the distance?
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt is now personally interested in this dog-rider. He remains hidden and mulls over what he heard… She is interested in a gnome from Mazion, something about a "lead"…. on what?
Gnogglebolt:If there was one thing all gnomes liked, it was a good mystery.
GM:Go ahead, roll 1d20.
Meany: (( But I can't impersonate without my token. ))
VAE:is it +str?
TMG:meany; it's okay, just say IC if you don't have your token yet
GM:Let's just say 1d20 for now.
Trofim:« 1d20 = 20 »
GM:Woo!
VAE:w00t!
VAE:wair a sec
Sszeyl: (( Guess what I found on the other side of the window? :> ))
Dog-Rider (temporary token):« 1d20 = 2 »
Trofim:In a burst of speed out of his last breath, trofim manages to run up to the offender, who got slowed by the crowds near the gate
Sszeyl:Sszeyl had redone his wrap, to give it better coverage of his upper body, at the expense of carrying capacity. He only had one of his zai on hand, held loosely in the wraps of his chest, while the other was in the wagon with his backpack. A couple of folds had made an excellent hood, giving some coverage against the burning sun. He and Zairith were approaching the former capital of the Humans, as good a place as any to start Sszeyl's research into differing styles of government.
Guard:« 1d20 = 6 »
Trofim:Hand us back tue pouch you swine!
VAE:i guess another attack is warranted
GM:The goblin howls with rage and throws the wallet…
GM:« 1d20+1 = 6 + 1 = 7 »
Trofim:Trofim slows down for a moment and swings his flail "this will teach ya to mess with honest people" « 1d20+1+1 = 7 + 1 + 1 = 9 »
Elros:I pick up the wallet and examine it, taking my attention away from the wounded goblin.
VAE:hehe.. another miss i gues
GM:… just as the cart carrying Sszeyl and Zairith approaches the main gate.
GM:It lands with a plop and a jingle in the road in front of the cart.
VAE:trofim's or the other one's ?
GM:Elros: The wallet appears undamaged. The purse strings haven't even been loosened.
GM:Trofim's.
VAE:i assume the goblin escaped when trofim missed
Sszeyl: (( Should I roll that Sszeyl hears it, or did the GM give that as a freebie? ))
GM:Back in the market square: Well, the guard and dog-rider haven't seen you. So, what do you do, Gnogglebolt?
Trofim:The small but nimble offender bowed out of the flail's way, and fled
GM:Sszeyl: GM freebie.
Faerie:I shout over to Trofin, in common "Hey! You lose something?"
Trofim:Hell..but he did throw the purse, right Beridze?
Elros:I shout over to Trofin, in common "Hey! You lose something?"
Faerie:((Sorry, forgot to impersonate. :x))
Trofim:*turns towards the shouter* Yes, a pouch..
Sszeyl:"Zairith? I think something's in the road. May I investigate?"
GM:Not recognizing your brother's wallet, there, Elros?
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt attempts to follow this dog-rider without being seen by her.
GM:Wait, I'm sensing some confusion here.
Trofim:Trofim looks for the pouch
Gnogglebolt:Probably going to be modified Hide checks among the crowd
Trofim:Spot check « 1d20 = 5 »
GM:Gnogglebolt, yeah hide checks.
GM:Trofim, you'll want to roll a Search check instead.
Faerie:((Yes, sorry, I'm confused. :x ))
VAE:ouch
VAE:should roll again?
Trofim:Search this time … « 1d20 = 7 »
GM:OK. Faerie, there were two wallets. Tadrim's wallet got stolen by one goblin; that's the one you defeated. Trofim's wallet was stolen by another; that's the wallet that was just thrown into the street.
VAE:(basically trofim just wasted 6 seconds more )
GM:In the interest of getting the party together, though, I'd say that you could see this happening.
GM:Trofim: No dice. There are too many feet around… You can try again, if you want.
Faerie:((Oh, oh, I see. Sorry, I think that must've happened while I was out. ))
Trofim:Trofim looks again, pacing over the place.. Hmm, beridze.. he threw it somewhere , i saw « 1d20 = 6 »
Zairith (who needs a better token):*nods to Sszeyl, pulling the horses' reins to slow them.*
Sszeyl:"Oh, goodie." Sszeyl hops out of the cart, and checks around for the source of the noise.
Gate Guard:*utterly bewildered… help the citizen search for the wallet, or investigate these two drow approaching the city?! Aargh, this was so not covered in training. XD*
GM:Search check, Sszeyl!
Trofim:Trofim gets annoyed… you might help me too *takes Beridze out of the pouch and moves skull around at knee level* Search: « 1d20 = 13 »
Elros:I take another look at the wallet I'm holding, and realize it's my brother's. That's what I get for not seeing him in a decade, I suppose. I give it back to Tadrim.
Sszeyl: (( One moment, I need to look up the sheet, to see if I get bonuses. ))
GM:Gnogglebolt, you manage to avoid being seen by the dog-rider, at least, for now. She rides around the marketplace, still scanning the crowd.
VAE:hehe.. it seems that the skill really helps him
TMG:Gm, do you—ah x3
VAE:*skull
TMG:(wait, I never actually rolled yet)
GM:Trofim: XD You do manage to finally find your wallet!
Sszeyl: (( …: ))
Sszeyl: *
GM:Gnogglebolt; the dog-rider rolled another 1. She wouldn't have seen you.
TMG:ah x3
Faerie:(Should I spot check on Sszeyl?)
Trofim:Ah, thank you Beridze! *pats the skull's head with his rough palm, and saves it, then chases forwards to the place where the pouch lies*
GM:One moment, Trofim. Sszeyl, did you roll a Search check?
Sszeyl: (( Nope. ))
GM:Elros, go ahead. You can roll Spot, Search, or Listen checks any time you feel it's appropriate. ^^
GM:Would you mind doing so, Sszeyl?
Sszeyl:« 1d20 = 5 »
Sszeyl: (( Epic fail. ))
Gnogglebolt:Gogglebolt tries to discern if the dog-rider is headed in any specific direction, or is really just looking for "someone"
Sszeyl: (( Why do I feel thats going to be a theme? ))
GM:Well, you do manage to spot the source of one of the noises! A human, talking to a skull.
VAE:should i assume trofim picked up the wallet without any disaster?
GM:Trofim; yes. ^^
Trofim:Trofim picks the pouch and examines its contents
Sszeyl:Sszeyl, not finding anything hops back in the cart. "Nothing important."
GM:Trofim: There are two gold pieces missing, but everything else is intact.
Elros:spot check on Sszeyl « 1d20+7 = 6 + 7 = 13 »
Sszeyl: (())
Trofim:Ah, beridze, the swine didn't have time to steal much!
GM:Elros, you see a cart with two drow approaching the front gate, a human talking to a skull in the middle of the street, and two very, very confused gate guards.
Trofim:Trofim starts wondering, looking for what has gotten so many people in front of the gate
VAE:spot check?
GM:Yep!
GM:Gnogglebolt, another Hide check, if you please?
Trofim:Better look once again Beridze, but this time i am keeping you in.. i need to be ready … Spot « 1d20 = 13 »
TMG:GM; do you want a completely basic hide check, or a modified one? Normal hides are meant to cover onself and not be seen in one spot, but Gnogglebolt is following her from behind, and a within the crowd itself (not to mention he' Small-size, but I'm already set to factor that it)
Elros:I draw my crossbow, keeping my eyes firmly fixed on the two drow.
GM:Completely basic. i'll handle the calculation part.
TMG:Alrighty then…
Sszeyl: (( Spot check on the crossbow? ))
Gnogglebolt:Midget hides in the crowd! « 1d20+1 = 11 + 1 = 12 »
Zairith (who needs a better token):*shrugs* If you say so, young Terror.
TMG:wait, crap
TMG:add another 4 to that
TMG:that was supposed to be +5, not +1 >.
TMG:so, 16
TMG:(sheesh, I went through all the trouble of looking it up, and forget it anyway…)
GM:Trofim, you see a cart approaching the city gate, carrying two drow and a rather grumpy-looking tortoiseshell cat with one eye… actually, hang on. One drow, one half-drow… and you recognize the half-drow.
GM:The dog-rider continues to scan the crowd, searching, searching… and then the sun gleaming off your goggles gives you away. She grins broadly, and the dog bounces quickly in your direction. Reflex save… ^^'
Trofim:Oh, Beridze, it's Zairith again.. he did show up after all *walks cautiously towards the vagon*
TMG:damn, she saw me with a 16, -and- possible mods from the crowd? o.o
GM:Sszeyl: Sure, you can roll a Spot check to see the half-elf with a crossbow.
Gnogglebolt:Reflex save: « 1d20+4 = 1 + 4 = 5 »
TMG:oh ffffff
Sszeyl:« 1d20 = 15 »
VAE:kekeeke
GM:You've just been pounced by a very big, very fluffy white dog.
Elros:I point my crossbow away from the drow. They're not doing anything, yet, and I don't want to risk hitting the human approaching their cart.
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*leans over so she can be seen over the dog's head* Hi!
GM:Sszeyl, you do see the half-elf with the crossbow.
Gnogglebolt:For the second time in ten minutes, Gnogglebolt is knocked flat on his back, his tools and belongings spilling out of his overstuffed pack a little. The small girl gives him a very simple greeting. After a moment of silence with the dog pinning him down, Gnogglebolt gets down to business. "Who are you, and whyy were you looking for me?"
VAE:can trofim try getting on the wagon?
GM:He can, if he makes a Climb check.
Trofim:And now, Umpf!: *climb « 1d20+1 = 19 + 1 = 20 »
Sszeyl:Sszeyl leans down to Zairith. "I spy another half-breed. I think he might have daggers for us."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog wags its tail. Heehee, look, master, I caught him, I did*
Zairith (who needs a better token):Unfortunately, that will tend to be the case — *breaks off as someone tries to clamber into the wagon*
Sszeyl:Sszeyl snags his backpack and gives the human a large portion of the wagon to move in.
Zairith (who needs a better token):Trofim! Now, this is a surprise.
Elros:I keep a careful eye on the cart, keeping my crossbow low.
Sszeyl:"This was the 'nothing imortant' I saw earlier."
Trofim:Surprise? We thought it was agreed to meet in Castleton! We almost got robbed because…. Oh, who's that? *points at Sszeyl*
Dog-Rider (temporary token):I'm Terri! What's your name? *The human girl seems very cheerful, and very young, probably younger than ten.*
Zairith (who needs a better token):That, would be the esteemed Sszeyl of Orgolloyss. An associate of my cousin Tebryn. *gestures formally* Terror Sszeyl, this is Trofim Kabakian. A human mage my dear Lethiriss is rather fond of.
Sszeyl:"By fond of, you don't mean…?"
Zairith (who needs a better token):*chuckle* No, no, not in that way, young Terror.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt manages to get a closer look at the small veiled person on the dog, whom he can now identify as just being a human…and a very youn girl at that. He mutters something in Gnommish under his breath, and was about to reply when he realized; She didn't know his name? Why was she looking for him, then?
Trofim:Greetings, Sszel (pronounces it wrong) … *takes the skull out* Look Beridze, this is another of our friends, Sszel
Gnogglebolt:However, he settles on replying with "I am Gnogglebolt Sparkgear. I ask again, why were you looking for me, and why does your canine have me restrained?"
Sszeyl:"Well there goes an interesting conversation topic. Hallo, Toffee." He's also pronouncing it wrong, but on purpose.
Trofim:*Trofim extends his right hand in greeting, holding the skull in his left at waist level, eyesockets aimed at Sszeyl*
Elros:What could possibly bring two of /them/ here? Sense motive on Zairith « 1d20+2 = 1 + 2 = 3 »
Sszeyl: (( Wow. ))
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Oh! Sorry! Papa, back! *The dog backs up, allowing Gnogglebolt to stand.*
Faerie:(( Yeah, I think that's called a crap check. :x ))
Trofim:So, did Letris and Zairith explain you everything?
VAE:now invent something ridiculous for the motive
GM:Elros: You have no idea, although they seem to be talking to the human with the skull.
Sszeyl:"Do they ever?"
VAE:that's half the fun
Elros:I also attempt sense motive on Sszeyl « 1d20+2 = 6 + 2 = 8 »
Trofim:Oh… they didn't yet… *turns to Zairith* Should i tell him, or you?
GM:Gnogglebolt, I think you know what I'm about to ask for.
GM:Spot check. ^^'
Sszeyl: (( Another spot check on Elros? ))
Zairith (who needs a better token):By all means.
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt is a bit surprised that the girl has her dog let him up so easily, but accepts it as he begins gathering up his spilled items.
Gnogglebolt:Spot?« 1d20 = 6 »
Sszeyl:« 1d20 = 15 »
GM:Go ahead. Like I said, you guys can roll Spot, Search, and Listen checks, whenever you deem it appropriate.
Trofim:Sszel… to put it simply… Me, Letris, Zairith and Beridze here *taps the skull* are trying to overthrow the false-mages who hold the harness of magic in these lands and spread their lies
Sszeyl:"The more I see of you, Zairith, the more sense it makes you being related to Trebyn."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog-rider, Terri, dismounts and helps gather your things.* Sorry, Papa likes to give hugs.
Trofim:*Trofim continues, ignoring him speaking to someone else* They claim one needs *talent* or *spark* to cast spells- yet o myself have shown that false
Faerie:((GM, I assume my second sense motive failed?))
Zairith (who needs a better token):I have absolutely no idea what you mean, young Terror… *smiles*
GM:((Yep, although you can come up with your own theories.))
GM:Be back in two shakes, guys.
VAE:allright!
VAE:i will add a bit to the monologue
Faerie:((There's also the direct method.))
Sszeyl: (( Which might end in stabbity. ))
- Liatai returns.
Sszeyl: (( Welcome back. ))
Trofim:Indeed, everyone of firm mind and patience can learn to cast spells, and do things like them… but they want to keep it secret so that everyone has to beg them!
Liatai:((Mm, pancakes.*noms*))
VAE:Niice!
VAE:^^
Elros:I put my crossbow away and put a hand on my sword, but don't draw it. I approach the cart and shout, with a less than subtle amount of disgust "Drow! This is awfuly far above ground for you, hm?"
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt graciously accepts the girl's help in gathering up his belongings. Once everything is secured back in his pack (more or less), he levels his eyes at her, and speaks again. "So, tell me 'Terri'…why does a gnome from Mazio interest you?"
Sszeyl:Sszeyl holds up a finger to Trofim. "Hold that thought, would you kindly?" And then slides over to Zairith. "The half-breed is asking a valid question. Shall I answer or do you want to?"
Trofim:If we overthrow them, and show everyone the true way, it will bring a new, better age! *gets excited* Mending, getting clean water, healing, harming… everything can be done by power of the head! Anyone's head!
Trofim:*Trofim didn't even notice the shouting, being absorbed in his theories*
TMG:(you know, I can't wait for the day when Trofim actually walks into a church full of clerics XD )
Zairith (who needs a better token):*straightens upon hearing the half-elf, frowns* I shall. The Order's method of diplomacy is not exactly welcomed here. *loud enough to be heard* For your edification, elf-child, I happen to be returning home from a long journey, with a family member come to visit. Surely this is no cause for alarm?
GM:Elros, you can roll another Sense Motive check, if you want.
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Oh, Mr. Guard said you were looking for a thief, that's why!
Sszeyl:Sszeyl shrugs, then goes back to listening to Trofim rant.
VAE:@Tech.. he would probably not believe them.. but the funny thing is that if he did, he would lose his power probably
TMG:(nah, he just has to convert)
Trofim:*calms down somewhat* so.. that would be most of it.. anything you want to ask?
Elros:sense motive « 1d20+2 = 17 + 2 = 19 »
Sszeyl:"No, you explained it all fairly well."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Are you a thief-catcher, Mr. Sparkgear?
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt was slightly startled and bemused by the girl's answer. Not anything like he thought was going on, but that's the beauty of a good mystery. "I would not say I was looking for a theif, but I did indeed encounter one that knocked me down as he was running from who I can only presume was his victim."
GM:Elros; the drow seems to be telling the truth.
Gnogglebolt:At the girls question, Gnogglebolt smiles. Gnomes always pursue new avenues, explore, expand their horizons, and never pass up a chance at something interesting. Grinning at the girl, Gnogglebolt says, "Today I am, miss Terri."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Wooooow! Just like the stories! *bounces up and down a little* Can I help you catch the thief, Mr. Thief-Catcher, can I, can I?
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Pleeeeeease?
Trofim:Right! The plan was to meet here today, Zairith will have to show you why
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt continues smiling in the girl, softening quite a bit inside. Ah, childhood. One of the greatest wonders of the world, no gnome's curiosity is any match for even a child's curiosity and enthusiasm. "Indeed I can help you catch a theif, Miss Terri. But first, we must find out where to look…"
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Ooh!Maybe Papa can help! Papa's got a great nose! *trots over to the dog* Papa, what do you think? Can we be deputies?
Elros:I take my hand off my sword. "As much as I don't like you, I feel you're being truthful. I can appreciate wanting to rest after a long journey. But if there's the slightest hint of trouble, I'm coming looking for you."
Trofim:Trofim notices the speaker
Trofim:Oh! He has been listening!
Sszeyl:"Did I just hear the sound of someone making threats? Threats aimed in my general direction?"
Trofim:Trofim turns around on the spot, pointing beridze towards the voice- now showing to be a half-elf
Trofim:You .. are you one of them or not!?
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog tilts its head, then woofs loudly once.*
Elros:"I make promises, not threats." He looks over at the human. "One of whom?"
Trofim:Why do i even ask - they hired you to scare us? But no, we shall not step away! Right, Beridze ? *looks at skull*
Elros:I look at the skull, quizically. Surely, this human can't be speaking to it, but I can't see anything else that he could be.
Sszeyl:Sszeyl slides over to Zairith again. "Oh, he's making promises now. How shall we deal with this?"
Zairith (who needs a better token):Zairith says nothing at the moment, watching Trofim.
Gnogglebolt:Watching as the girl asks her dog to track, and hearing his bark, he asks "I presume he is saying yes?"
Trofim:Why are you staring at Beridze?
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Uh-huh! Papa's smart.
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog starts sniffing around.*
Elros:"Oh, excuse me. But I don't usually see skulls…not that aren't attatched to a neck."
Trofim:Well, Beridze hasn't been on a neck for 93 years and three months… yet he's wiser than many of those who are
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt continues to watch, waiting to see if the dog seems to pick up on anything.
Trofim:And neither me or him are afraid of your threats
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog barks again, then nudges Terri's back. She climbs up.* Papa says he went that way!
TMG:Question; is this dog really big, or just kinda big? As in, does it look like there's enough room for Gnogglebolt and Terri on him?
Elros:"Hm, perhaps we'll have to chat some time. I have no quarrel with you or your…Beridze, and I don't mean to make threats at you. That said, I feel I'm not welcome next to this cart any longer, lest your companions try something."
GM:The dog is… really big. http://www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-gallery/dog-pictures-breeders-puppies-rescue/great-pyrenees-pictures-breeders-puppies-rescue/pictures/great-pyrenees-0050.jpg Zairith (who needs a better token):Rest assured, young elf-child, you have nothing to fear from us. *short pointed look at Sszeyl*
Trofim:Me … my companions… there is no difference. You do anything, your lie-mage masters will have to find a different thug
TMG:Hmm, so it's Small-size, not Medium-size?
TMG:Can't carry Gnoggle then.
TMG:Right, so…
GM:Huh? No, it's Medium-size…
VAE:wow.. the dog looks like a Slovak Cuvac! 3
TMG:Oh?
TMG:(well the dog in that pic isn't -that- big… >.> )
GM:That's a young one, that's why. It's the only picture I could find with a child in it. ^^'
Sszeyl:"What? I was going to sic the guards on him."
TMG:oooh, gotcha. So, we're talkign a human-sized dog, here?
GM:Yeah. Big, big dog.
TMG:okay then
Gnogglebolt:Looking up as Terri climbs the quite large dog, Gnogglebolt asks her if he can comeup as well. If she says yes, he climbs up as carefully as he can, and says "Then let us be off! Let's find us a theif!"
VAE:big pretty dog, as dogs shoulld be
VAE:not small nervous and annoying
Zairith (who needs a better token):*to Sszeyl* Unfortunately, our case with the guards may be just as difficult…
Elros:I look over to Zairith for a moment. "Then I shall be more than happy to leave you to your business." To Trofim, "My mage masters? What are you on about?"
Gate Guard:The gate guards are still looking rather hesitant.
Trofim:You very well know what i am on about! I am a peasant but not a stupid one!
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*Once Gnogglebolt is seated, the dog takes off at a trot* Yay!! Off to catch a thief, off to catch a thief~
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog arrives at the main gate, gnome and girl both in tow, following the trail of the goblin's scent, just as Trofim shouts about being a peasant.*
Sszeyl:Spot check on the fluffy dog « 1d20 = 17 »
GM:It's not hard to spot a big, white fluffy dog with a gnome and a girl on its back. You see them approach.
Gnogglebolt:Behind Terri, Gnogglebolt points to the man holding the skull. "there. That is the man the theif I saw was running from. He might know something. But odd, he's not chasing anyone anymore…either he lost the theif, or he caught him."
VAE:oh, trofim saw them before
Dog-Rider (temporary token):Ooh, a mystery…
VAE:shall i roll a spot check?
Sszeyl:"Oh, Zairith, is it common for these Human things to let their young use canines as mounts?"
GM:Yeah, roll one.
Elros:"Pardon me, I didn't mean to insult you. But I've not been employed by any druids. I'm on a bit of a break, as it were, from rangering in the woods."
Trofim:Trofim has a fleeting thought he noticed something *spot « 1d20 = 5 » *
Zairith (who needs a better token):*frowns* No, in fact, it is quite unusual… « 1d20 = 7 » +??
Elros:I think I see something ut the corner of my eye. spot « 1d20+7 = 11 + 7 = 18 »
TMG:by the way, um…who's playing Zarith? Meany, or Liatai?
VAE:NPC he is
VAE:meany plays Sszeyl
Sszeyl:Sszeyl seizes Zairith's head, and aims his eyes in the right direction. "Then can you explain -that- to me?"
TMG:I know meany plays Sszeyl, I was wondering if he was also controlling Zarith
Sszeyl: (( Unfortunately no.He is controlled by the Liatai. ))
VAE:if i say he is NPC what does that leave you with
Zairith (who needs a better token):*jerks away from Sszeyl's grasp, looking affronted and rather annoyed for a moment before his expression smooths out.*
VAE:did Trofim see anything?
Zairith (who needs a better token):Trofim sees the girl, dog, and gnome.
VAE:since the 5 was enough the first time
GM:Oh, whoops. That was supposed to be a GM line. ^^' Trofim sees the girl, dog, and gnome.
Trofim:Ooh! That dog , and the small person! I saw them before!
Zairith (who needs a better token):That IS rather unusual. *peers at them, and frowns*
TMG:(when did Trofim see Terri and Papa?)
Trofim:They were looking at me.. spies of the lie-mages i would say!
TMG:(oh, waith…ah! yes, I remember)
Sszeyl:« 1d20+3 = 19 + 3 = 22 »
Elros:"Is it always mages with you?" I examines the girl. I thinks there's something odd about her, but I can't place what.
Trofim:We should find out what they are up to, not so Beridze?
VAE:does trofim need to roll to go down?
Faerie:((Sorry, that should've been "examine" and "think"))
GM:To climb down from the wagon? No, you can just jump down.
Trofim:*Trofim puts beridze into his second belt pouch , jumps down and walks to the dog* You! With the nice dog there! Why are you following me?
Sszeyl:Sszeyl gives Zairith a pointed look, narrowing his eyes enough to get some eyeshine aimed at the half-drow, then leans down off the cart. "Avast! Who goes there, riding the good ship Fluffy Dog?"
Gnogglebolt:Gogglebolt dismounts the dog as the approach. As he hit the gound, he stumbled and swayed a little—that was -nothing- like any of the nice steam-powered vehicles he was used to. After taking a moment to ensure his lunc remained his place, walked towards Trofim.
Sszeyl: (( Everyone get your ultraballs ready, its the rare playful mood Sszeyl. ))
Dog-Rider (temporary token):We're thief-catchers! *the girl exclaims cheerily, waving hello*
Elros:I follow Trofim, kneeling down to get to eye-level with the girl.
Zairith (who needs a better token):*guides the horses and brings the cart within the city walls*
Elros:"A little girl trying to catch thieves in a big city like this? It's dangerous here, you know."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):I'm not worried! I've got Papa with me.
Trofim:*looks* Really? *takes out Beridze* What do you say beridze, she is too young to be a lie-mage servant
Elros:Quizzically. "You have…papa?"
Gnogglebolt:The man then seemed to be heading towards him as well, asking why there were following. "Hail, human." The gnome says as he walks closer. The gnome must be an odd sight of himslef, with goggles on, various toolbetls, little gadgest, and a pack that seemed too large for him. He spoke to Trofim, asking "Hello there, good sir. Not too long ago, were you robbed by a red-cloaked goblin-speaker? We are pursuing that theif."
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*to Elros* Yep! Papa!
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*to Elros* Papa's smart. He chased that thief aaaaaall the way here!
Gnogglebolt:"I notice you are not chasing that theif any more, so I presume you either caught him, or he got away. What happened?"
Trofim:*tries to pat the dog* Good, friend, how many wolves and thieves have you taken care o…. Oh! The goblin!
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog wags his tail.*
Elros:I reach my hand out to let the dog get my scent. "Is papa your dog's name?"
Trofim:Yes.. i caught up to him and he threw my pouch away… i tried to hit him with my flail but he ran
Trofim:Luckily he didn't take the other one - beridze here could have shattered …
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*to Elros* No, that's not his name, but that's what he wants me to call him. His name is looooooooong…
Trofim:*Trofim pats the dog again* Good, nice friend… just don't think about chewing on Beridze
Gnogglebolt:"Ah, I see. By any chance, dod you see which way he went after that? And, did he drop anything other than that puch? The canine here may be able to use an object to track him."
TMG:*did
TMG:*pouch
Dog-Rider (temporary token):*The dog barks once.*
Trofim:Oh.. he went in the gate's direction! *shows*
Trofim:He didn't drop anything else though
TMG:(wait, aren't we -at- the gate?)
Sszeyl:"So, Zairith. Are you going to tell me what two children and a dog did to anger you so much?"
Elros:I rub under the dog's chin, and look up at Trofim. "You, human. What about our pouch. Could the goblin have got enough scent on it?"
Zairith (who needs a better token):Hmm? Did I seem angry?
Sszeyl:"Would I be asking if you didn't?"
Trofim:It might be… *takes a dead rat from his pocket and the pouch under his nose* here friend, you find who stole the pouch and get a treat!
Papa:*oh boy oh boy I'm getting scratched under the chin*
Gnogglebolt:"Hmm…" Gnogglebolt frowns at the human's report. "Perhaps…" He turns back to Terri. "Can Papa track someone if they've only held an object for a few minutes, even if it was held by someone else for a logn time beforehand? If the goblin was running, especially due to a recent heist, he may have sweated quite a bit into the pouch if he was grasping it with his hand…"
Sszeyl:"Don't insult my intelligence, and I won't insult yours."
VAE:erm trofim is already trying it
VAE:nvm
VAE:is allright *facepalm*
Zairith:No offense was meant, young Terror. The girl simply reminded me of something… unpleasant.
Terri (temporary token):I dunno, Papa, can you do it?
Papa:*woof!*
Terri (temporary token):He says yes!
Elros:"Do I want to know why you have a de—no, never mind, I don't." He looks at the girl. Sense motive « 1d20+2 = 18 + 2 = 20 »
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt looks at the dog quizzically as terri simply asks him. Then shrugs and turns back to the human. "I believe he can track from the pouch. May I see it, good sir?"
VAE:as i said.. trofim is already holding it under the dog's nose and speaking to him
TMG:okay then
VAE:now it is the right time to point it out
VAE:he even promised him a dead rat if he does it
Trofim:So, friend! *puts the pouch even closer to the snout*
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt turns back to Terri again as the human presents the pouch to Papa. "Papa does seem…unusually intelligent for a canine. It was almost as if he could understand us speaking."
VAE:also it makes more sense if he does it as the pouch has his and goblin's smell
Sszeyl:"And the gnome had nothing to do with it?"
Terri (temporary token):Mm-hmm. Papa's smart.
VAE:hehe.. i feel sometimes that trofim and papa are at the same mental level Int wise
Papa:*sniff sniff sniff*
Papa:*woof*
Trofim:Scratches him , and pats his back! Come on boy!
Trofim:Find the swine!
Zairith:Hmm, so that IS a gnome. I had assumed it was the girl's brother.
Gnogglebolt:"The game is affot! Let us depart, Terri, it would seem Papa has acquired the scent again!"
TMG:*afoot
Papa:*awoooo!*
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt follows Terri in remounting Papa, although Gnogglebolt does hesistate a bit this time.
VAE:since he is a peasant i expect that Trofim has some experience handling animals even if having just standard skill
Sszeyl:Sense motive check! « 1d20+3 = 9 + 3 = 12 »
VAE:so he is quite active
Papa:*Papa waits to see if the others will follow.*
Elros:I stand up, next to Papa and the girl. "Well, I hope you don't mind if I come with you. I'd hate for anything to happen to a nice girl, such as yourself."
Trofim:trofim makes sure pouch with beridze is safe and follows the dog
Trofim:Good boy! you'll get a tasty rat!
Zairith:*smile* Young Terror, if I may ask a favor of you, perhaps you could follow to keep the young mage out of trouble.
Zairith:After all, this is a chance to see one form of the justice system of the surface world at work.
Papa:*woof woof*
Trofim:*Trofim continues following, encouraging the dog on the way*
Elros:I follow beside the dog, unsure where we're being led.
Trofim:Come! Where did the swine thief go!
Sszeyl:"So be it. You will of course be aware if I fail. Just follow the screams."
Gnogglebolt:Gnogglebolt, as Papa halts for a moment to see if anyone follows, finally sees the drow exit the cart. Gnogglebolt's eyes widen and his jaw fals open, before turning into a bit of snarl, then looking away and getting his face under control. A drow. Here.
Sszeyl:Sszeyl hops off the cart and runs back to the general area of the gate before Zairith can xhange his mind.
Gnogglebolt:He was not obviously hostile, but still…this boded very ill indeed.
Sszeyl: (( Have they traveled very far? ))
Zairith:But of course. Here; *hands Sszeyl a slip of parchment* My address, should you take longer than expected.
Trofim:Good friend.. did you lose the track? *gives him pouch to sniff again*
Zairith:Excuse me, gentlemen… and lady… *nods, driving the cart into town*
Sszeyl: (( Let's just say he got the slip, and not question the plothole further, eh? ))
Trofim:*scratches his chin and behind ear* Come! find him!
GM:((Ah, I didn't even notice the plot hole, sorry. ^^' Yeah, let's go with that.))
TMG:ait, whut?
TMG:what plothole?
Sszeyl: (( How Sszeyl got the address when he was already running off. ))
GM:((In fact, this might be a good place to leave off until next session… the party is together, and Papa is going to lead you pretty far.))
Sszeyl: (( And I ask again, have they traveled far? ))
TMG:oh, Zarith handed it over just as Sszeyl was jumping down, easy
VAE:ninja'd
Elros:I look down at the gnome. "What would make you say that? A petty thief, sure, but ominous?"
TMG:We haven't moved yet
Sszeyl: (( Oh, goodie. ))
TMG:We were just about to rush off from the cart
VAE:the only one who moved is the dog and trofim
Faerie:((Sorry, just wanted to get that out before we left off.))
Sszeyl: (( And now we retire, until next week? ))
TMG:Sure, why not.
TMG:Nice opener and intro for the party ^^
VAE:hehe , true
Liatai:Next session… the actual dungeon! XD
Faerie:x3
VAE:trofim plays even better than i expectes
VAE:*expected
Sszeyl:Maybe Sszeyl should have grabbed his pack, too. »
TMG:just say he did
Meany:Aights.
Liatai:We can assume he was carrying it, yeah.
Faerie:He had it with him the whole time. o3o
VAE:so.. by next week the rat will be pretty stale
Liatai:XD
VAE:will have to purify it
TMG:and it gives a possibility for Tadrim to jump back in
Liatai:Indeed!
TMG:danman; oh, no problem
TMG:"Gentle Repose"
VAE:i am joking
TMG:
Faerie:You think we'll get a real map next week?
VAE:as in over the course of a week it will rot
VAE:Yeah
VAE:REal map on real square paper
Liatai:Yeah, you'll get a real map next week. XD
Liatai:Several real maps.
VAE:i noticed three today
Faerie:Sounds fun~
Liatai:And possibly, treasure. :3
Faerie:Ooh, treasure. x3
VAE:hmm, don't forget to save the log
VAE:just for fun and reference
TMG:oh yes
TMG:Liatai
TMG:after you disconnect the server
Liatai:Save Message History, right?
TMG:you may want to hightlight everything in the chat
TMG:(ah, no, that doesn'tr work)
Faerie:Should we all save, or just the GM?
VAE:actually ,best to do it now and see if ti works
TMG:but, highlight everything in the chat, ctrl+C, and ctrl+V into a txt fil;e
VAE:I can rty!
TMG:no, it doesn;t
TMG:Save Message History is nonfunctional in b63
TMG:they never finished the code
Faerie::x
TMG:or, wait…I'm thinking of autosave chatlog. Uh…what are you looking at, Liatai?
VAE:i have t
Liatai:52 pages in Word. XD
TMG:why'd you put it in Word? XD I said txt file!
VAE:69 pages of .rtf
VAE:anything can read .rtf
VAE:even a notepad
TMG:Why does everyone think txt file means word doc? XD
VAE:they don't
Liatai:I just had Word open, guys. XD
Liatai:That's the only reason.
VAE:i saved it as rtf, not to mention notepad can screw up
VAE:if anything wordpad is the one to use
VAE:notepad has several shortcomings at least so i remember from Win98
VAE:for example maximum file length it can process
TMG:yeah, that's 98
TMG:this is XP-above
VAE:who cares.. i have my log, i am happy
Meany:And now. I explode.
VAE:we put it on the swap? or i make a directory like with apples?
- Meany explodes into kittens.
Meany is disconnected.
- VAE awaits decision
TMG:danman; liatai's already got her own log it seems
VAE:well, i mean for everyone
TMG:don't worry about it
Liatai:You can make a directory if you want.
TMG:she can take care of it if she wants
TMG:…meh, or that
Faerie:Yeah, should I worry about making a log for myself?
VAE:i am just trying to be useful
VAE:I can host all of them
VAE:however many there will be
Liatai:Just keep in mind, anyone can read what you have been told in a private message that way.
VAE:true
VAE:but so far, i wasn'y
VAE:i can remove it then, like i did the sensitive data when we played apples
VAE:remember?
Liatai:Yeah, I remember. That might be good, then, especially for people like Cog and Sofox who might not be able to make it to/through every session.
Liatai:Or… you can upload them to the Swap. :3
TMG:well, cog's character wasn't even present
VAE:that too… depends on people really
VAE:i couldn't care less
Liatai:Let's store them on the Swap, for now, and if the files get too big, I still have this old, musty Akellon wiki with some file space I can dust off and restart… »
VAE:yeah, that too
VAE:it shall flourish again!
Liatai:Indeed!
Liatai:I'll give people the link when it's up and running again, just for reference's sake.
VAE:tech.. can you tell me where to find the image you used for your gnome?
TMG:the PHB
TMG:why?
VAE:good
VAE:page?
VAE:(i am lazy)
TMG:what do you want it for?
VAE:danman magic
TMG:I'm fine with the token I got, really ^^; besides, the whole image is of an illusionist mage
TMG:that doesn't really fit my guy…
VAE:good too
VAE:so i shall find myself
TMG:don't worry about it man, I'm good
VAE:i just thought you remembered
VAE:i know how i might edit the sideburns and beard our with it looking good still
VAE:if it works…
VAE:you wil have a more fitting token
VAE:and remember i have already ripped the whole phb into pictures once
VAE:i can do so at a whim with my mighty linux
- VAE has mighty linux
TMG:heh. You can google image "gnome illusionist", and the right image will probably come up
VAE:with a mighty penguin
TMG:anyway…gonna disconnect this soon, Liatai?
TMG:we all headinjg back to the irc?
Liatai:Yep, sounds good to me.
Faerie:Right-o
VAE:yrp
