Shankfang is a Half-Orc. He likes guns, bikes and cute little Gnome women. Or, rather, a cute little Gnome woman.
History
Shankfang was born and raised in Mazio. His father was a surprisingly civilized Orc mercenary who moved to Mazio to get away from his more barbaric kin. He met Shankfang's mother, a Human Fighter in the Mazian military, during a barroom brawl. She kicked his ass six ways to Sunday, and it was love at first fight. Lucky for him, the human woman liked 'em ruff and tuff, and it wasn't long before they started a family together.
Shankfang was their only son, and the two were incredibly loving parents. The family lived happily together for eight years, during which Shankfang, despite his uncommonly sickly constitution, flourished. Unfortunately, this was not to last. Shortly after the young Half-Orc's eighth birthday, a fire burned down their home. Shankfang managed to escape. His parents weren't so lucky, and perished in the blaze. The event left him traumatized, and left him with an irrational fear of fire. Large enough blazes would even go so far as to force him to relive that horrible night.
Due to an unfortunate clerical error, Shankfang was wholly forgotten by the state, and ended up on the streets, where he was taken in by a biker gang consisting of Orcs, Half-Orcs and the occasional Human or Gnome. The gang was called the Deffriders, and their bikes Deffbikes. Despite the seemingly ominous name, they were no worse than hoodlums and delinquents, with their worst offenses being petty shoplifting from the more successful businesses. They raised young Shankfang rather well, and he grew into a fine person, surprisingly intelligent and charming despite his heritage. However, it was not his destiny to remain with the Deffriders.
One day, as the Deffriders were off to perform some act of vandalism or another, Shankfang happened upon a young Gnomish girl. He stopped and, upon speaking with the girl, learned that she had gotten lost. The Half-Orc, being a big softie on the inside, picked the little girl up on his bike and helped her find her parents. The parents were very grateful, but that is not important to this story. What is important, is that this act of kindness drew the attention of one Talfeera Steamwheedle Nosy Yaskintle Brightweave Indrite (Sparkgear), a cute Gnome Sorceress. She approached the Half-Orc, and engaged him in conversation. They talked for a long time, and Shankfang left with a lot to think about concerning his gang affiliations.
The two met many times after their initial meeting, and slowly grew ever closer. Eventually, Talfeera convinced Shankfang that being in a biker gang was not the best thing for him, and he left the Deffriders. Though they were sad to see him leave, they did not try to stop him, and he remains close with them to this very day. In his heart, the Deffriders would always be his family. Talfeera also helped him get a job as a courier, as well as a place to stay. She even helped him get over the fire that claimed his parents' lives, something that Shankfang is eternally grateful for. Eventually, the two fell in love, and became an item.
It was several months before they gathered the courage to face Talfeera's family. Though somewhat shocked at first, they eventually gave their support, though only begrudgingly on her father's part. Unfortunately, before they got a chance to tell her brother, Gnogglebolt, he caught the two in the act, and now holds a grudge against Shankfang. Gnogglebolt left for Akellon shortly after
Three months later, Shankfang asked for Talfeera's hand in marriage, which she was all to happy to give. They decided to leave Mazio and elope to Akellon. Shankfang, being far less magical than his new fiance, left first to establish himself in Akellon, while Talfeera plans to teleport herself there at a later date.
Personality
Despite his Orcish heritage, Shankfang is a very kind, well-mannered individual. He is uncommonly intelligent, wise, and even charming. He is very light-hearted, and enjoys spending time with the people he cares about, especially his fiance Talfeera. He enjoys his freedom, and absolutely despises any who would restrict the freedoms of not only himself, but others as well. He is not above using…less than ethical methods to do what needs to be done, but would prefer to avoid them if at all possible. He is completely devoted to his "Leetle Sparky," Talfeera.
Skills
Shankfang's greatest asset is his agility. He is very quick and dexterous, and is a dead-shot with his flintlock pistol, and any firearm for that matter. Naturally, being a Half-Orc gives him impressive strength, yet at the same time he has a very impressive mind, as his intelligence is nothing to laugh at. His wisdom and charm are average compared to others, but given his Orcish heritage both are uncommonly impressive. Surprisingly enough, he is somewhat frail in body by nature, and only overcomes this through rigorous training.
