Smoke is Flint Carthan's faithful companion, a mongrel dog he found on patrol one day. Having been a stray for some time, Smoke lived on the kindness of others and whatever he could hunt down before he met the hatted inquisitor. As such, he is a masterful beggar, a habit which none of the Leaden Mace inquisitors seem keen to break judging by how often their table scraps end up in Smoke's belly.

Miron Steelsprocket and Smoke have a long-distance relationship of sorts; the longer the distance between Smoke and Steelsprocket, the better the relationship seems to be.
