Contained herein is the account of Sszeyl of Orgolloyss, Terror of Ezzebek; on the subject of the human city Castleton, and the events which occurred in and around it.
Vicious Monsters,
Approximately four months after departure from Ezzebek, I arrived at the human city of Castleton. I had expected to begin my investigation of human culture from its former capital, but this has since proven to be impossible. The area is a melting pot for many racial cultures, so determining which aspects of life is influence by the specific human influence is not feasible.
Eleven days after reaching the city, I discovered a plot of siege upon Ezzebek. The threat comes from a combination of High and Wood Elves. I have negotiated with a member of the Wood Elf community, and they are acting favorably toward a cessation of hostilities, provided no action is taken to interfere with the executing of Order Forty-Seven, which states the the illicit property obtained by the Lolth raiders to be returned to their proper owners. In this case the small forest of trees which is currently eating at the rock over the Ezzebek estuary.
The High Elves are the main issue. I have not been able to establish diplomatic relations with them, though using the Wood Elves as go-betweens is showing results. More information on this as it develops. Deploying Monster Volnen to the High Elves and negotiating with them might go a long way toward keeping our borders secure.
On the subject of borders. I have encountered records which showed a Drow female of significant age was killed, and her corpse sold to renegade necromancers by a goblin tribe. I have recently reclaimed her body, and put it to rest by a funeral meeting the standards set forth in the Ezzebek Code of Conduct. But I have discovered her to be a Lolth worshiper, great Monsters! As per Order Eleven, I am obligated to put my established mission on hold until such a time as no Lolth worshipers in the surrounding areas continue to exist; but given the Monstrosity's habit of remaking the Orders on the spot, I request confirmation.
