A student of the School of the Four Beasts, specifically the Swallow, Swallowtail hails from an island nation across the sea called Amaya. When she met the Vigilant Guardians, she spoke very little Common, only her native tongue and Auran. Luckily, Gnogglebolt Sparkgear also spoke Auran, and communication was made possible once Pamela Lundy had fled the Sargano family tomb. Swallowtail had been captured by the Blackskulls and was about to be sacrificed by Nerullian clerics, before the Vigilant Guardians exploded onto the scene and rescued her and Relnok. Since then, she has attached herself to the Guardians, insisting that she has a life-debt to repay.

Currently, she serves as Sszeyl's tutor in the ways of the Four Beasts. She has picked up Common thanks to the Guardians, although it still isn't perfect. While very good at origami, Swallowtail is not such a good artist with pen and paper, and is banned from cooking at Guardian HQ after an incident involving sentient brownies. She means well.

Her real name, and reasons for being in Akellon, have yet to be revealed. She has mentioned failing some sort of task that ended with her being sold in an underground sentient-trafficking market to the Blackskulls as sacrificial goods, but has not detailed what this task was, or who it was being performed for.

After the breakup of the Vigilant Guardians as a formal adventuring company, she opted to stay with Sszeyl at the Mustering Cave to keep an eye on him and his spiritual tag-along. There may have been ulterior motives behind this decision, as she and Sszeyl had been growing closer in the previous months.
