The pillar of the party. Thomas is a fairly regal-looking young man in his late twenties, and stands quite tall for a human, as do most members of the Lazarus family. He is no longer usually adorned in the integrated robe-plate of a templar, having swapped it out for an inquisitor's high-collared longcoat over his armor in Resca. He currently carries three Pelorite holy symbols; a silver amulet hanging prominently below his neck, a second symbol hanging from his left wrist that belonged to a fallen Pelorite paladin, and the most recent addition, a slightly grumpy-looking alchemical silver one forged in Yoriver by Grant Warner hanging on the crossguard of his claymore.
Son of Lady Nina and Sir Alexander Lazarus and twin brother of Tomiko Lazarus, Tom began the campaign as a humble Pelorite templar seeking to be more proactive in the world. Friend of Miron Steelsprocket, he decided to tag along when the gnome met a Mazian gnome and his company in the Bronze Boot in Castleton, hoping to hunt down some of the local necromancers. His introduction to the party involved nearly dying by getting his throat torn out by a dire wolf.
Despite the harsh initial encounter, he decided to stick with the party, and went with them and Flint Carthan to clear a Blackskull den. He found the Pelorite holy symbol he currently wears around his wrist there, in a pile of equipment and miscellany left over from the Spindlethorn brothers' victims. When he left the Pelorite temple, he requested to be allowed to carry the unknown paladin's holy symbol with him.
At one point, that holy symbol was paired with a second one on his right wrist; when the party went to Redtree, he carried the holy symbol of the town's lost priestess around his other wrist. He bore it into battle against Freida Briarclaw, and against the abishai Ocahilon, who he decapitated at the end. He returned the symbol to the priestess' grave at the end of the adventure.
His experiences in Redtree shook him — "awake, maybe" — when he saw the kind of damage just one fiend could do to the kind of town and situation he imagined himself taking care of in his later years. He signed up with the Leaden Mace Society as soon as he returned to Castleton, devoting himself to the hunting and extermination of fiends.
Since then, Thomas has proved himself the party anchor time and time again. Strong, kind, stalwart, and brave, yet also prone to high silliness and occasional dumb moments, it's fair to say that Thomas is everyone's friend and a pillar of the group. The stress of trying to keep the Guardians from each others' throats tells on him, but he presses on. Hopefully, at least some other members of the group are inclined toward fostering cooperation, which takes some of the load off him.
Thomas is one of the few people Zairith considers a real friend, oddly enough, considering they're as different as night and day. He is also maintaining his friendship with Miron Steelsprocket; even if, as they put it, "[Miron is] a complete little arse all the time" and "[Thomas is] more obstinate than the Wise Fool's mule every now and then."
He slays fiends. He bakes cookies. He sweeps floors with dragons. He gives advice. He heals bees that sting him. He gets drunk and asks silly questions. He defends and protects. He's a Pelorite, and an Inquisitor. He's Thomas Lazarus.
