"One of two red wyrms known to have been involved in the Underdark War and the burning of Elsaeothi Forest, Vargachixeniejir continued his reign of terror among the northern survivors of the conflict for 36 years, leaving his lair only to feed and to gather more treasure for his hoard of stolen humanoid and dragon goods. The story goes that a number of veterans of the Underdark War, including five far younger metallic dragons, joined forces to undo the great evils committed by the great wyrm and destroy him once and for all. Vargachixeniejir caught wind of this plot and summoned his children, kobolds, and any he could sway to his side. The battle was long and difficult. There were many casualties on both sides, and the landscape was forever changed by gouging claws and sizzling magics. At long last, however, the final blow was landed by quick little Vaerithosgix, a small copper dragon whose lair was among the many ravaged by the two red wyrms. Now, this is a place of wild magic, where the air fairly crackles with the remnants of arcane and divine power used so long ago. Some try to brave the dangerous caverns and windswept reaches of Dragons' Dance in search of treasure; others go almost as a pilgrimage to see the bones of the great wyrm and pay their respects to the many fallen."
